  • I am on 50% off sky tv and sports.

Negotiated today to get a £20 credit applied to my account as I complained that I was not offered any free tickets for the British Masters at Woburn next month.

Interestingly sky told me my current 50% off deal finishes next January. I am not in contract.

I thought and am sure it should be later than that. I did not debate it. I will simply cancel my tv package during December, give 30 days notice and hopefully get at least 50% again.

Perhaps you were given less than 12 months at 50%, because you aren't on a minimum term contract.
  • Just got a year deal for the 50 MB and talk weekends for £25 a month, don't know if its possible to haggle the BB alone down but she said that alone would be £26 if I got rid of the phone line.

Need some serious help for my old man, feel like we've been getting rinsed to years because of our poor choice not to change sooner.

    Sky Multiscreen £11.25
    MUTV £7.00
Variety with Sports & Movies HD £75.75
    Free items
    Total £94:00

    Virgin:

    Bundle Charges
Talk Weekends Fully Itemised Billing TV Size: M V HD Monthly Fee Broadband Size: XL (Up To 100mb)
    Bundle Charges total £26.84
    Phone line rental
    Telephone Line Rental
    Phone line rental total £16.99
    Premium add-ons
    BT Sport
    Premium add-ons total £18.00

    Your package total £61.83

Been paying over £140 for over 3 years now across the 2.

What's the most realistic thing i can expect when haggling, long out of contract on both of them and 1 of the HD boxes we have is terribly old.

I was hoping to get Sky to agree to around £40-50 a month and a new SKY HD Terebyte box.

And get Virign to reduce it to £30-40 with a new super hub and 150mb broadband instead of 100MB. The signal is terrible on the wifi box.

Or pay £80 a month at BT and get BT broadband, 2 new boxes, BT sport and Sky Sports?

Any advice? Are my Sky and Virgin demands realistic?

60% off Sky for 12 months and a £50/£100 account credit seems to be the current winback offer. You'll have to go through with giving notice to cancel though (tv won't go off for a month).

They'll probably offer 50% off for 12 months on a 10 month contract initially.

I think they'll offer 50% for 10 months on a 12 months contract. Is that what you meant?
  • I have been paying 50% for about 3 years now, I put in a cancellation request a few days back and immediately the 50% off was showing in My Sky.

I have just gone on live chat and asked for a better offer and have 60% off for 12 months and a £50 credit.

...cancelled yesterday -best the adviser would do was 35% off for 12 months.Logged into MySky immediately after and the 50% off for 12 months was already showing.
I'm going to leave it until a couple of days before switch off -then negotiate for 60% and a new box -if no good, then I'll let it go off for a day or two.:)

OMG never thought I could do it but I have cut all my links with BT. I am one of these people who think phone line = BT, gas = British Gas TV - Virgin etc..

I have made the switch, still shaking. LOL. I know this sounds stupid to some people but I think there are a lot of other people who have done the same as me and left everything with the companies they always used. To switch seems like a hard job and I'm happy with the level of service I get. Well no check to see if you can switch to another supplier, it's very easy - honest.

I still can't believe I actually did it. I was paying £68.00 p/m for the BT phone line/ Broadband and £26.00 p/m for the Virgin(very basic package). I have never changed anything on the Companies and services, I just kept paying every year, blinkers on and straight ahead.

I took a look at some online comparison sites out of curiosity, well was I shocked, YES I WAS. I ended up on the SKY website, had a good look around at the services and package prices that would work for me. I wasn't sure whether to make the swap or not, have one company deal with all three of my services. Then a chat box popped up, "Would you like to speak to a SKY assistant", I thought why not let's have a chat. The assistant was a man, as he introduced himself, I went through everything I wanted and didn.t want or need. We came up with a package that was combining everything I had and a lot more. Well as you can imagine all I wanted to know now was the cost = £34.00. I asked where could I sign up, he told me to go through the website as I would get a welcome gift (£100 - Tesco,TV,credit to account). He also said that SKY notify BT and Virgin of the change and I don't have to do anything - RESULT.

I had my SKY TV sorted yesterday and the phone and broadband will change on the 9/10/15.

I have saved £60.00 per month which is £720.00 per year, I have a far better package deal and services.

If you are like me and scared to switch, just have a wee look first, no obligations, just look.

That's not quite accurate unfortunately. Sky will notify BT as you are transferring your line and BB from them.

However they have no need to notify Virgin so you will need to cancel those services yourself. You had best do that now as you will have a cancellation period of around 30 days.
