I phoned sky today as an ex customer to arrange installation in my new home. This was for sky dish installation and phone line installation as its a new build house.

    I managed to get:
    Free dish installation
HD entertainment, sport and movies - with box sets
    2 x free hd boxes
    Multi room installation
Free phone line installation (bt charge £120 for this alone)
    Free broadband router
Line rental (pay as you go, but we only want the line for broadband)
    Unlimited broadband

    12 month contract for £68 p/m + additional £30 credit on account

I was very happy with this offer and wanted to share.

Got a letter this am about price rises in Sept, it just seems to go up and up :(

Any tips on getting a reduction? Last time I ended up reducing my package which did not help, ended up paying call chargers and kids complaining about lost channels.

Just got my bill and its £71.99

I have a landline with 1000 anytime minutes, can also call my sister in New Zealand on this. Broadband, not sure of speed. XL TV package and a TiVo box.

I do not have a BT line to my house. We have had Sky in the past about 15 years ago but were unhappy with them always putting price up and the after 12 months hounding me to pay insurance on the equipment. Have things changed?

Sky still put their prices up regularly but, as you've said, so do Virgin. I would definitely consider goig to Sky, I did when I'd finally had enough of Virgin. Have a look at Topcashback or Quidco (I went through TCB when I signed up) and sign up via their online chat if that's the way you want to go. I did receive a single phone call regarding insurance of the equipment and I just said no thanks, I can buy a replacement off eBay much cheaper, and then they left me alone.

Sky will usually arrange to fit a landline free of charge, they certainly did for me.

Cannot believe it, i went interactive through my tv and accepted the 35 per cent deal in error when i input my pin number.

There is no bloody cooling off period so cant cancel.

Still, i had managed to get a 50 quid credit and free broadband for a year a few months back so i will just have to wait a year to get my 50 per cent tv discount back.

    schoolboy error

Phoned BT last week for my father - they weren't interested in doing any deals for retention. I have had that experience before as well, so have convinced him to move providers !

I nearly did that myself, I'd call them up and tell them it was in error,

called to renew my sky subs yesterday. Full package(without HD) gone up 50% on my last deal, from £35/m to £58/m. (still a reasonable price compared to others i have spoken to, but not for me)

Would only offer about 10%off the new rate, and only then on a 10 month deal and a 12 month contract. So if i took the offer, i would be stuck with 2 months at full price at the end of the offer period.

Have now given notice to cancel, see what happens in a couple of weeks.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

    Hi all,

Great thread. Cancelled my variety + sports bundle (not HD) on 25th June and been watching offers come through. Sky ended Monday and the best offer I've had is 50% off any TV bundle. Wanting this but now in HD (so family rather than variety bundle) I tried online chat but after 10 minutes discussion he couldn't help. I've just got the telephone With sky and there was no problem offering family bundle for half price and non HD sports for half price so £30/month. However to upgrade from this to HD sports was another £6/month with no 50% offer. This 50% deal is misleading in my opinion. Has anyone got (or know) a better deal?

    Thanks in advance

I've just renewed my TV subscription with Sky - previously had 50% off the top package for 1 year. I cancelled and left it for for about a week after it was switched off. Called back and got 60% off the top package and free BB for a year, there was no haggling and was offered that straight away.

So, now I'm £54.85 (previously £60 ish) monthly for family, movies, sports, HD, Sky go extra, phone and broadband.
