Hi everybody,
Just looking for your opinion on what Sky have offered me. Currently we have:
Sky family
BB unlimited
Sky talk line rental
Sky talk anytime
We pay £69.40 per month for this.
I rang to cancel and they have offered the above package but with BB fibre unlimited, for:
10 months @ £57 and 2 months @ £71
As i didn't think that was such a great deal (compared to some of what I've read in this thread), I asked for her to go ahead and cancel our subscription but she advised me that
the discount she has offered me would be lost if i cancelled now and advised me to discuss it with the family and ring back to accept or to go ahead with the cancellation.
Do you think I should I accept the offer or should I go ahead and cancel with the hope of receiving a better offer later? We have had sky for 16 years and never once negotiated any discount with them, so I am a bit apprehensive of them calling my bluff and my family going potty at me for switching to other providers.
Thanks in advance for your input!0 -

I have the same package as you with sky movies and pay £31.50 after renegotiating.
My bill is:
Family bundle and movies 2 £21.50
Line rental £9.99
broadband free
total £31.49
so in theory I would go for:
Family bundle 50% off = £18
line rental 50% off or £9.99pm
broadband unlimited free
sky talk anytime = £5
total £32.990 -

The discount is not very good so I wouldnt lose any sleep about it not appearing on your account again.
you can always call them up on day 30 and say you have changed your mind about cancelling so its well worth doing to see what appears in the next 30 days.0 -

Thank you for your advice, I will ring them back and go ahead and cancel.
Fingers crossed they come up with something better before the 31 days expire!0 -
after cancelling sky last week ,i decided to go online and haggle with online advisor
i had
sky family bundle with sky sports
ultd bband
phone line
ultd phone calls
this cost me 83 pound a month
i was offered 50 % off tv straight away said no and was then offered 60 % per cent ,i asked what they could do with phone and was offered 10 pound a month, but the advisor originally told me it was 12 months and then said 10 months,so i said forget it,he then said sorry it is 12 months and put my phone line down to 6 pound a month
so i have
sky family bundle with sky sports
ultd bband
phone line
ultd phone calls
all for 37 pound a month
im more than happy with that
I had this deal for the past year but it was a few quid cheaper as I had the original bundle instead of the family bundle. This year they refused to go near that price again so I cancelled the tv and only have the phone and bb, the tv has about another two weeks of the cancellation to run. It's no great loss if it does go as we don't use it that much so we'll just get Now Tv instead.0 -
I have Sky, and have the following:
Really slow sub 10mb BB
Phone - not used and just exists for the BB
'Family' TV package (seems like a normal package to me!)
Extra box in bedroom
NO movies or sports.
Sky have just increased cost to £68 per month. Said I wasn't paying it. Julie Moore in the 'executive' team told me to check online for 'existing customer offers'.
I have cancelled and they have not argued. The ridiculous thing is they will be begging me (and offering better deals) to come back once I've actually left! Just like Virgin have been doing for the past 12 months.0 -

Very true TJ, but just play the game. If you lose your TV because they haven't offered you anything decent then so be it. I'm going down the freesat route for a month or so, if that doesn't give enough variety then I will probably go for Netflix and Prime on their one month free trials and see if any offers from Sky turn up. If not then I'll probably sign up to one of the aforementioned services or NowTV. Reluctant to use NowTV though as it is still Sky so will probably go with one of the others.0 -
Sky were handing out 60% off and £100 account credit like candy. I have sky world in HD, Phoneline, BB(14mb) and multiscreen for £30 per month. That's including the £170 account credit spread over 12 months.0

Got a letter this am about price rises in Sept, it just seems to go up and up
Any tips on getting a reduction? Last time I ended up reducing my package which did not help, ended up paying call chargers and kids complaining about lost channels.
Just got my bill and its £71.99
I have a landline with 1000 anytime minutes, can also call my sister in New Zealand on this. Broadband, not sure of speed. XL TV package and a TiVo box.
I do not have a BT line to my house. We have had Sky in the past about 15 years ago but were unhappy with them always putting price up and the after 12 months hounding me to pay insurance on the equipment. Have things changed?0
