I rang up to confirm my cancellation despite the 50% off offer but found out that my free broadband for 12 month deal from February was dependant on having a TV package. Broadband would therefore start to be charged at £7.50 a month.
The cheapest TV package at 50% off is the Original package which is £20 a month (£10 if I took the 50% offer) so it made sense to take this out to continue to get free broadband. I then thought for the additional £8 on top I would get the Family package as I like the HD channels and Eurosport.
So my next monthly payment is £39.40 (£18 TV + £16.40 line rental + £5 talk anytime)
The free broadband 12 month deal expires in February so will ring them up then to renegotiate or cancel BB + phone.0 -
Sky was being cancelled at midnight tonight, went via the mySky chat (which was showing 50% off) asked what they could do for me, offered 60% off the bat (plus had for normal price). Pushed for more and got 35% off the hd. He called my bluff when I said that wasn't enough so I changed my mind and accepted
Full hd sky world package for £31 a month. Get in!!!"I don't want to sound cold and un-caring, but I am those things so that's the way it comes out" - Bill Hicks0 -
Just cancelled via online chat. No offers made.
If you're using the online chat to cancel, you have to be first patient for the button to appear, then quick to click on it before someone else beats you to it!0 -
Just gone onto My Sky and found a 50% off for 12 months offer right away.0

Received the "Sorry you're leaving our TV services" email but it says "Glad you're staying with phone and broadband" even though I told them we were cancelling that also (under the new system you don't cancel, your new supplier does that for you). TBH I'm not surprised that they aren't offering anything as I have had deals every year since I started with Sky and they probably are realizing that I'm a cheapskate that they will never make any money out of!
Dad cancelled about 12 days ago, had the same email but no offers have shown up.:T0 -
Spoke to Sky on Skychat, they said I'd have to phone to get a better offer than currently advertised, re an upgrade to broadband!0

If you want to keep your phone number go to another company and get them to take it over. At the moment Plusnet and SSE have good deals on but its worth looking at others too, I'm looking to go to Plusnet as I was with them years ago and their customer service as good.0

It's not the same as it was years ago. Telephone support times being cut, ticket system all but done away with in favour of Live Chat with decreased availability time.
There are many long term customers planning on moving away now. I would suggest you have a read through their Community Forum before deciding.0
