Our Sky ends on Wednesday. Mysky is still showing 50% offer. Will this increase the day after cancellation?

No. 50% of the most I've ever seen in my sky.

All 60% offers have been gotten by going through live chat.

Ok thanks. I'm assuming when officially out of contract the guys on live chat have more scope to offer bigger discounts? That's certainly what I took away from the couple of in contract live chats I had. The customer advisors would simple say "ah well you friend will have only got 60% and £?? Credit because they were out of contract"

Do you actually need to cancel, or do you ask to cancel and then while you're in the process of cancelling do they send out offers? I don't really want the hassle of having to go without the services or have them reinstated.

You ask to cancel. For TV this means a 31 day cancellation period. Usually the phone calls will start within a few days of cancelling although not guaranteed. Within seconds of my cancellation I had a 12 months at 50% offer on My Sky. Sometimes it does take until you're actually switched off before decent offers appear. However reinstating the account takes minutes once you've agreed on an offer.

Phone and BB is a bit more problematic as you really need an alternative provider to go to first.

If you're in contract they don't need to work to keep you as you're already tied in.

Happy to help, just a shame most people dont read this, and just go with 30% off etc. I/we really hammer Sky every year, despite the "we cannot give you 75% off again" conversations. Instead...how about 60% off, and a £100 credit... its the same either way.

Just tell everyone in your work place, or your family now. You will become the "go-to" person for Sky deals.

See you in 12 months..as i dont read this thread often, only when its time for Sky renewal.

    Regards,

    Agent Orange.

You'd think more people would haggle with the likes of Sky but, no! Some people have too much money and their time is more precious than hanging on the phone/chat with Sky to be able to save 50% !

Anyway, see you in about 12 months back on this thread :)
Sadly can't get Fibre in my area and I'm sort of limited in choices with Sky BB because BT/Plusnet etc start contracts from fresh and charge you an arm and a leg when moving house - something Sky don't do as far as I am aware!

'Best advice' ? There is nothing to be gained by throwing away a perfectly good house phone.

We have mobiles on PAYG, for occasional use and find paying £5 a month for Anytime calls the cheapest option for us.-Horses for courses.

I dont think Alpha's advice on throwing away the phone was meant to be taken literally :) I'm sure he meant most people these days use a mobile anyway to call so no need to use the home phone unless absolutely necessary.

I have a bog standard home phone, about 20 years old LOL picked up from a skip. I very rarely use it but we do get calls from time to time from Family on the landline as its cheaper for them to contact us there.

I used to use it occasionally to make 0800 calls but thats not even true any more as most mobile providers will have 0800 free as part of the contract.

In fact I use it so rarely that I've had some voicemail from a random PPI seller or scamster sitting there for many months without us even realising theres a voicemail to be picked up LOL.

See you all on this thread next April / May although I do check it from time to time :money:

After being a loyal customer with Sky for over 15 years I rang them on Sunday to tell them I couldn't afford to sustain our monthly charge (£82 per month just for tv, no phone or broadband) as I have been made redundant and I would probably have to cancel the service. I was perfectly open to moving to Sky broadband as our deal with Talk Talk has expired and I need to reduce the costs for that also.
To my surprise, when I told the advisor I was looking at cancelling he offered no resistance whatsoever, didn't come back to me with an offer or deal and didn't offer to put me through to retentions. He just went through the motions and our Sky now finishes on 30th June.
Very disappointed that I wasn't offered any incentive to stay with them, particularly after being loyal customers. :(
Im going to go ahead with the disconnection and will probably get a Now TV box as Virgin media is unavailable in our area.

Wouldn't worry about it. In a few days you will get a phone call from their Win Back team.

You should also check your My Sky to make sure you have Marketing Preferences set to allow them to contact you with offers. Also look at your My Sky Home page as that was where my offer appeared.

Thanks Jem I'll check our preferences on My Sky now and make sure everything's set up.
Will wait and see if we get a call :)

Left Sky around six months ago after being with them since the early analogue days. Just had a letter today offering me 60% off any bundle for 12 months plus a £100 credit! That would make the original bundle £20 for a full year. Still not tempted though, don't think it's worth that much!!
