Use Ethernet connections (with Homeplugs if the router is not close) - much more reliable than WiFi.

Good idea. Will have to buy homeplugs though but seems like a good solution.

Answered the call from the Derby number this morning. After a bit of to and fro was offered
Family pack for £18 p/m (50% off) for 10 months and no contract. Plus £50 credit
Tried to get a box or free engineer visit but it was a no. But I took the offer as I have a spare box anyway.

    For broadband was offered.
    £7.50p/m unlimited
£6.40 p/m line rental so basically £10 off a month
This was a 12 month contract so i declined as I'm sure plusnet and BT will have some good offers on over the summer so happy to pay full price on phone and broadband for the moment as I'm free to look elsewhere.

Overall happy today as I've not signed up to any new contract but have got money off.

Ironically the initial deal I was offered on the TV was the normal variety pack for £19.50 so the key here is not to budge at the first deal they offer you. As someone mentioned above they seem to be under pressure to keep you so really don't want you to say no so the deals will keep coming.
If you don't get offered a good deal just say your goodbyes and wait for the next call tomorrow :)

Broadband - We were offered 12 months free line rental, with broadband at £7.50 per month... They only offered this when we signed up to someone else, and they received the request from the other provider.

If I take broadband and phone off someone else can I cancel within 14 days without anythinf messing up? That offer is good and would like something similar :)

Yes, I know what you mean.

This is what I received when I switched providers, it does not mean that it happen to you.

(Need to click it to make it bigger for some reason)

I think noticed I was leaving (due to number transfer), then came up with this.

:) I don't think I'll leave just for the sake of hoping to get a good deal on broadband. I expect BT and sky to have a big customer war over the summer so am happy to wait a month or so to see what other deals there are

I got that after just cancelling the tv, then calling to discuss phone/bb two weeks later. The £7.50, instead of the original £10 for broadband was after I agreed to half price tv (I asked what they would offer on tv; they didn't talk me into it and gave a £10 credit on top).

just taken this offer on Sky BB via chat:

    12 month contract
10 months line rental at £9.99
    free broadband for 12 months
    £60 credit
    Free new (hopefully better) router.

Had to really persist to get all this though and the whole conversation lasted about an hour. Not easy work, but I had been calling up the past week but not really offered good deals via phone so tried chat today :)

So, overall, quite happy, as in the last month have also had:

free month's credit for TV applied (no contract)

Family pack 50% off (£18) for 10 months, no contract, and £50 credit applied. This deal I got AFTER I cancelled and the barrage of calls started coming through on the mobile.

Had to really work hard and persist to get these deals though.

As suggested previously by other helpful posters is to cancel the TV no matter what deal they offer you. Then wait for the barrage of phone calls, or go online via chat to get a much much better deal.

Thanks to everyone especially Alias_Omega for the help in the past week or so :)
  • Hi, Just got off the phone from sky and have cut my bill by £30 a month, £360 savings over a year. I have the full works, tv, broadband and phone. I did a bit of research with other providers and learnt I could get the same product but cheaper. I rang up sky and explained I was considering leaving due to the price of my package and I didn't want to lose anything from my package to cut the price down.

I explained what I was being offered elsewhere and Sky matched the quotes given. Becky was my customer service advisor and she applied the discount, and was a pleasure to talk to.

how much discount did they give you for TV? Standard is 30% , and if you hold out you can get more.
