You could push them upto 60%, it will be a "this chat only offer...and they will deny it next time"...

Then go "erm.." "Can you not go some more on the Credit?" as you wont give me a new box, and i will need to buy a new box.

Then i would look on eBay/Gumtree etc for the Sky+ HD WiFi box, they seem to be around £20-£30.

The question i have is... Do you have a twin core from the LNB? As the new boxes have twin core inputs... (watch 1 channel, record another)...

Sky Box Question? If your "Sky Box" breaks, who fixes it? that would be angle?

Variety to Family Bundle.... when i click on Box Sets, it says £2 per month to upgrade... however the website says £6 to upgrade. Probably not everything in the family bundle, maybe just "Box Sets" and something to investigate..

decided to stick with broadband on full price for a couple of months and see what the likes of PlusNet and BT etc have planned over the summer. i expect there to be a broadband price war over the summer to entice customers to Sports / TV bundles.

.... and the calls have started. Seem to be calling from an 01332 derby number. First time I picked up it just disconnected so I thought might have been a PPI caller. Just got called again and ignored it but later found out it was sky.

Do people get better deals via call or chat? As I said above i specifically want a new box and new router and both of which chat don't seem to have the authority to give

Your issue is that if you change the box yourself, your left with a single coax from the LNB if you have an old old box. You need the LNB/Dish changing, a new coax to the box and then the new box installing.

You could get prices to have the dish changed yourself, with the coax installed. Then add on the price of a box from Gumtree/eBay. I see plenty of "New" boxes for sale there for not a lot of £££.

I would pick your deal that you think is best without the box via Live Chat, then ring Sky on 150, and be put through to "Retentions", explain the deal you have been offered via Live Chat. Then explain the issue about the box. The issue that you can change the box yourself, but it would only have a single coax input.

It might be that you need to offset the account credit against the cost to have a new box/installation....but only for this time....

Next year, you don't need it.

(PS - If you login to Sky, it will tell you how much it is to upgrade to a 500B Sky+ HD box..)

But I already have a sky+HD box it's just the old one without wireless built in. Surely I won't need to go through all of what you said as its already a HD box?

I actually have a spare (hopefully better and newer) HD box which I use as free view in another room. But again it has no wireless built in and I'm loathe to using the wireless dongle as its just another source of power .

Use Ethernet connections (with Homeplugs if the router is not close) - much more reliable than WiFi.

My uncle has a 5 year contract....

The only issue is that you will have 5 years worth of price rises...at 10% per year..
