They're considered as separate as far as contracts are concerned. I cancelled the TV last June whilst keeping the BB/LR. Still got a deal of 50% off TV for 12 months and no tie-in.

Will be putting in my cancellation again soon for TV. BB/LR were transferred to PlusNet last November but only because the PlusNet deal was so good that Sky hadn't a hope of matching it.

What was the BB deal? There was a Plusnet offer on MSE a while back but I dont remember that much about it now but I was under contract at that time :(

At the time I got £75 cashback from PlusNet and £100 from Quidco so worked out as BB and LR for £16 for the whole year!

Am hoping for a call in the next few days begging me to stay

Now its done, get onto Live Chat and see what they say. Don't concentrate on the Box yet, that's at the end. They will tell you about the features of sky, then you can say you don't have a New Box..

As a comparison, I asked about MultiRoom (Multiscreen). I managed to get a Sky+ box thrown in instead of the standard "sh*te" box free of charge, the cost was £11.25 per month. As there was no account credit/discount, I declined.

Broadband... I applied to transfer to someone else, and received 12 months free Line Rental... ;)

Sky Tv - Live Chat Today, see what the offer is and Report Back.

just called for the second time today to cancel after I keep getting cut off. Was 15 mins into the conversation. They seem very very pushy and do not want you to cancel. Was given the standard 33% which isnt good enough but even then he puts me on hold and I get cut off .

    ARRRGH

I was literally cut off 3 times when I called to canx. I was nothing but polite but I was point-blank cut off during the call.

Having worked in a call-centre I don't blame them TBH. They'll be under severe pressure to hit targets in retaining customers and if they get someone on who gives reasons that make them 'unretainable', (retirement / moving abroad), they'll 'accidentally' knock the wrong key on the phone rather than take the hit to their stats.
almost glimpsing the light at the end of the debt tunnel...:j

Just for info I got a letter yesterday offering 50% off any tv package for 12 months or a free samsung tablet both with a 12 month contract.

My TV was cancelled a few months ago. I might have been tempted if I hadnt already got used to just watching stuff on catchup through a smart tv instead.

Just thought I'd add details of my negotiations.

Called on Saturday and said I had received the letter about the price rise and told them I thought it was too expensive now. The 1st girl I spoke to only asked what I watched etc. I only have the Variety package and HD, so not much I could cut from that. She didn't offer any discount, so I asked for the service to be cancelled. She put me through to cancellations - same spiel - what do you watch etc. He offered me £15 a month discount for 10 months with a new contract - which I declined. Cancellation put through.

Almost immediately when I logged into to My Sky, I had an offer of 35% discount for a year.

I had a call today from Sky supposedly to confirm my final ill details. He asked again why I was cancelling - I told him I was happy with the service, but it was getting too expensive for the basic package I have. He offered me 50% discount for 10 months (no contract) plus £50 bill credit - which I was happy to accept.

I know other posters have got bigger discounts & credits, but as I only have the basic package - I thought it was a good deal. So £20.62 for the next 10 months!

After cancelling my TV package and not getting a better deal than 30% off the package expired at the end of April. Just used the live chat and got 50% off Family pack + 50% Sports + HD and £25 credit.

Happy with that at the discount is for 12 month so its £36 a month instead on £66 (HD pack not discounted).
