Yes but is the discount also for 12 months?
Most offers I've read about and been offered for my parents are for 10 months but still with a 12 months contract so basically having to pay full price for 2 months.
12months... discount is for 12 months. Had to ask for it.its a new contract0 -
Rang Sky and got 40% off TV for 6 months, £9.99 for line rental (10 months) and free unlimited broadband (10 months) saving £27.11 per month. No longer pay extra for HD and only £5 for all calls including international. Pretty pleased with this.0

I am with Sky and I have the broadband and phone package with them. I spoke to a nice lady earlier last week as I wish to cancel my TV package as I don't believe Sky offer value for money anymore, and I feel Freesat is a better option for me (no contract). She was happy to cancel my Sky TV package, saving me £33 from the family bundle I had. Earlier today I found out Sky are offering new customers Fibre Optic Broadband for £10 a month. As I am paying £20 a month for Fibre I thought I'd give Sky a call and see if they can match it. The guy on the other end of the phone said we would normally offer it for £10 half price for 6 months but since you have been with us for 5 years now, we will offer this for 12 months! £43 saved in a matter of days. I am now paying Sky just £32.40 a month. Result.
I won a bid on Ebay for a Humax HDR-1000S (500 GB) DVR Freesat box for £105 (including delivery). The normal retail price of that box is currently £150.0 -

The Steps...
1. Call them up. Request to cancel. They will put you through to cancellations/retentions.
2. Cancellations/Retentions. They will try to keep you. The offer wont be that good. Request to cancel further.
3. If the phone call is ending, you know thats the best they can offer you at that time. Let the phone call end, you have the remainder of the cancellation period. (Worst case...you can ring them up and beg to say....)
4. Sky website. Hover over the "My Sky" button, and Click "Have you left us within 12 months". Enter Live Chat.
5. Tell the agent that you have cancelled Sky, you want to know what the best offer they have for you. It will probably be 50% or so.... Check on here, see what deals people are getting. This is what you should be aiming for.
6. If you do not suceed on Sky Live Chat, end the chat and chat the next day. Keep chatting until you get the best offer for YOU.
7. Accept offer when happy. Post up on here how much you saved..
(I had to chat for 2 hours to get my deal, i did it whilst eating my dinner. Not the best scenario, but i was doing things (ironing etc) whilst chatting).

I think in regards to the football package of Sky and the fact they don't show Champions League football anymore the cost is so expensive, it is better to find a football stream on the internet (it doesn't cost anything) ;-)0

Just changed over to Virgin from Sky, and got a great family and friends referral deal for 12 months:
Tv: XL (includes ESPN and BT sports 1 and 2 and in hd)
Sky Movies and in hd
Sky Sports and in hd
152 meg broadband
Superhub 2
Tivo 1tb
V+ hd box
talk xl
Line rental
0845 calls
For £66 a month on a 12 month contract!0 -
just called for the second time today to cancel after I keep getting cut off. Was 15 mins into the conversation. They seem very very pushy and do not want you to cancel. Was given the standard 33% which isnt good enough but even then he puts me on hold and I get cut off .

excellent summary there. Finally managed to cancel after getting cut off a couple of times. They really are very very pushy and do not want you to leave. Must have spent at least an hour on the phone today as got disconnected a couple of times.
Finally cancelled the TV side of it all. Will continue my broadband and phone but is that a good idea? Should I cancel BB and go with someone else?
Am hoping for a call in the next few days begging me to stay, but to even tempt me I need a new box as mine is 10 years old and has plenty of problems - they kept insisting on a free engineer visit who can replace the box but I said no, not unless I am given a better offer to stay with Sky TV0 -

They're considered as separate as far as contracts are concerned. I cancelled the TV last June whilst keeping the BB/LR. Still got a deal of 50% off TV for 12 months and no tie-in.
Will be putting in my cancellation again soon for TV. BB/LR were transferred to PlusNet last November but only because the PlusNet deal was so good that Sky hadn't a hope of matching it.0
