And I can re negotiate again in 6 months which is cool.

If you're now tied in to a 12 months contract, what bargaining power do you think you'll have after 6 months? It will be precisely none as they know you can't leave without paying off the contract.

Well as long as I stay with them I seem to have managed quite well with renegotiations mid contract the past few years. And they even mentioned that this time round. So they're open to it. I don't have to wait till the end of my contract either. Six months in and onwards.
I even managed to renegotiate my o2 contract mid contract recently and got a loyalty bonus. I can upgrade anytime with them.
The key is if you stay with them they can be flexible.

You must have gotten pretty lucky to catch the right rep.

They told me I can phone up after 10 months to sort a new deal even though the contract is 12 months!

Yes they're telling everyone this. Phoned yesterday to discuss my parents' account. Tried to give me a deal for 6 months telling me to phone back them and get another offer. No way would I accept a 6 months deal with a 12 months contract. 10 months deals are bad enough if they're trying you in to 12 months but it seems to be what is being offered now.

I don't mind risking two months at full cost if I don't get anywhere after 10 months as I'm still making a large saving on the deal I have.

If it's all that's being offered it's better than nothing. However last year it was 12 months deals and in some cases with no tie in at all.

Well as it is a wet afternoon in Wales I decided to haggle with my TV and broadband suppliers. (Got broadband, line rental and calls for £80.36 for a year!)
Phoned Sky as my sky box is nearly an antique!Got straight through to cancellation team by using "cancellation" a couple of times in the automated telephone system. Got through to a nice Scottish guy with whom I could haggle and have a joke with! After asking his manager etc etc I ended up with an upgrade to Family package free, new Sky HD+ box, for £19.80 a month and then a £75 cash credit on the account! Total for all this for the year is £162.60 or £13.55 a month a saving of £14.45 a month or £173.40 a year. Feeling quite chuffed with myself!

  • I phoned up Sky on behalf of my dad and got a £13 discount for 10 months off a £72 bill. He's been with them for 20 years.

He really wants a '2tb sky+HD box' but they refused unless he took multi-room.

Has anybody had any luck getting one of these boxes and are my negotiation skills rubbish?

    Cheers
