Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

Hi All,
I'm currently coming to the end of my first 50% off offer with Sky TV, despite being a customer for 11 years. My 12 month contract runs out at the end of June, whilst we are on holiday, and will be recording quite a few programmes. I have just rung and spoken to someone in retentions, who offered me a 35% discount starting from now. I thanked her, but declined. She said she'd keep it on file for me if I changed my mind.
Going through the disconnection and haggling process would be so much easier before we go away, but she said quite clearly that my 50% offer is on my account until 25th June. Does this mean that I would be unable to get another 50% - 60% offer before that date?
Thanks for any help.
They will not offer you a better offer than your current one, while in minimum term for your last offer.
You need to give a month's notice, so can cancel before your holiday. If it's off while away and you renew on return you will lose little as you can use catch up services and tv can be instantly switched back on, releasing any stored recordings. Offers should be better,too.0 -
Cancelled last Saturday. Had the 35% off offer in mysky in Sunday. Called on Tuesday and offered 50% of tv package plus 35% of HD and multi room plus £50 credit. Turned it down. Just tried on chat and they could not do any better. Told them 60% of the lot plus £120 credit or continue to cancel. Ah well let's see what the nex 2 weeks give. To be honest I'm kind of hoping they don't offer what I want as moving away from Sky seems like the right thing to do0

It was quite clear from my post that I have already cancelled by phone and am currently within the notice period. I was asking where in 'My Sky' I should look for the retention offers as I can't see any.
Anyone?
I'd like to know the answer to this as well, I've seen it mentioned many times but over the last 5 years of cancelling then getting telephone offers I have never been able to find any offers shown on my 'my sky' account anywhere.0 -
For me, as soon as I sign into mysky it is shown on the main screen with a button to click for livechat. Its not actually in the offers or other tabs. Guess it may differ for different people0

Thanks, mine just has a message about Internet security age restriction settings that's been there for ages despite me already clicking the link to set up and doing so. I don't think I've seen an offer there after cancelling but the offers tab has an error message as well and always has done so that may be why.0 -

Similar here. I just have a message about 'discovering my extras' -most of which I already have. There's no offers at all even in the specific 'offers' section.
No bother, they've already started to ring, and email, but i'll leave it until its cancelled for a stronger bargaining positionalmost glimpsing the light at the end of the debt tunnel...:j0 -
Our Sky contract ended yesterday and we've now received a letter saying we can keep the sky+ features and have free unlimited broadband for 12 months if we pay £16.40 for line rental per month for the next 12 months. This is fairly appealing whilst waiting for any new offers to come through on the account. Can anyone think of a reason not to do this at all? Our broadband deal has just ended so I don't mind signing up for another 12 months.0

They are offering free broadband anyway. They phoned me with a 60% off and package plus £60 Bill credit.0 -

I didn't get any; just a message saying none could be offered via the site, but that I was free to call them.0 -
I'm coming to the end of my 12 month discounts with Sky and called yesterday to take them on regarding the price hike next month which is £3.50 per month for me. My current packages have crept up to £77 per month for Family pack plus movies plus hd pack plus sky go extra and phone plus anytime uk plus fibre unlimited, so I wanted to get price down before it jumps up another £20 per month next month when all said discounts end.
I've dropped the movies as I don't watch them much and use box office more.
I've managed to get phone and anytime uk plus fibre unlimited and family pack tv all for £57.39 per month for 10 months.
This includes half price fibre again and £9.99 line rental for 10 months and !0% off Family pack tv subscription for 12 months. I've had to renew both contracts for 12 months.
I'm sure I could have pushed to get better than this, but for me this is similar to the last deal I got a year ago but better with the discount off the tv pack so I'm happy.
And I can re negotiate again in 6 months which is cool. I'm always getting deals from them and the odd time I call them to negotiate I'm happy with what I get. They want to keep me as a customer after all. And they're not having to dish out any new equipment or anything so it's in their interest as far as I'm concerned.0
