..ideally better to only cancel TV -because effectively it can be switched on and off in minutes.Phone/bband cancellation can be threatened but better to actually find a new supplier first than switch to them.
HOWEVER, I suspect that Sky will tell you that your TV is contracted til June because the free b/band is/was conditional on TV ???

I don't think that was a condition I just agreed to sign up for another year for the broadband.

Technically we only pay sky £39 a month for the TV and its £55 at the moment with lone rental, due to go up to £62 when you add the broadband back on.

I'd love to get the whole lot for less than £50!

    Hi All!

I was going to cancel but today got a phone call offering my £58 package at £31 (46% off) and a £35 credit.

Not sure it's worth it really. What do you think? I do like Sky but don't watch it enough to justify the cost. Still, if the cost was less...
  • Well if I could actually get on the live chat I would see what I could get but its constantly busy been trying for hours lol

I currently pay over £80 for Entertainment Plus Sky HD, plus another HD box for kids, broadband and unlimited phone etc so with new costs definitely want to bring it down or cancel and use other companies to supply the same service

Does anyone know if your previous Sky+ recordings become available again if there's a break in the contract? My notice period runs out in a few days. Thank you.

Yup -I was off for two days but had all recordings available when I "rejoined" :)

Thanks brewerdave  I won't spend the next few days recording important programmes to DVD in that case!

Well finally had enough of Sky and cancelled yesterday. It took 48 minutes via chat but got there in the end. I'm no longer willing to pay £67 for Sky, Movies, HD and Multi room. They tried to offer better deals but came out straight with them and said unless they offered 60% off plus £120 account credit which I had seen other people get wasn't prepared to talk anymore.

Logged in this morning and already have a 35% off offer. One quick question - on the % off offers do these only apply to the base package or also the movies, Hd and Multiroom?

do it separately would be my advice. It's perfectly possible to get discounts off both and the cancellation notice period is different for the two services anyway, 14 days for phone + BB, 31 days for TV.

My packages are up for renewal now having been on the following package for the last 12 months:

    free broadband
    free line rental
60% discount on family pack, sports and movies
    £31 total pm

I've just come off live chat having renegotiated my phone and broadband.

I put my cancellation notice in last week by phone, they will advise you to just get a MAC code but I always put the cancellation in, there is really no harm in doing it this way - even if they don't offer you anything in the 14 day period you can still ring them up the day before it's due to go off and 'cancel your cancellation' as it were.

Anyway today I went on live chat and asked them to cancel my cancellation and give me a MAC code as I'd found a good deal elsewhere - also mentioned that I would be happy to stay with SKY if they could match it.

They asked me which deal and I quoted the plusnet one on the moneysaving expert page i.e. £155 line rental up front, free broadband, £75 cashback - effective cost £7 per month.

Straight away they offered me free broadband, line rental at £9.99 for 10 months and a £50 Bill credit - effective cost £6.89 per month. Not quite as cheap as I got last year but still a good deal.

Will call them back next week to cancel my TV package, from experience with that one you really have to let your cancellation take effect before getting the juicy offers.

    Hope this helps

the % applies to the tv bundles so HD and multiroom not included.

There is a risk doing this because BT Openreach are involved in disconnections/cancellations on Sky's behalf and they have been known to a) disconnect early and b) ignore "cancelled" cancellations !!:(

OK -if you aren't totally dependent on a working phone line /broadband and can be without for a period of time.

Sky TV cancellation is much easier:)
