I am with Virgin, just out of contract and pay £85 a month for the following:

    XL tv
    XL phone
    L Fibre
    2 Tivo boxes

with mobile phone calls the bill comes out at around £100.00 per month (someone in my household uses the house phone to make mobile phone calls  & Virgin are expensive for mobile calls)

I rarely watch live tv and hardly ever use the house phone so if it was up to me I would cancel the lot and just keep the fibre but others watch BT Sport and some of the paid for tv channels.

Recently been scouring the net/ringing providers to see what I can get. Been offered 60% off a tv package for a year to come back to sky. Was thinking of getting the family tv bundle coupled with phone and fibre through Plusnet. Was also going to add in BT sport for an extra £5.99 per month with the anytime and mobile phone call options. All in all per month, factoring in cashback it comes out significantly cheaper than what I am paying now.

Rang virgin to see what they could do. Most they could offer was to upgrade my phone to XXL so that mobile phone calls were included and reduce my bill to £80.00 per month. Declined the offer and a free month came up. Still said no (hoping that they will call me back with a good offer)

For the last three days in a row, bar today (weekend) Virgin have called during the day, however I am the bill payer and at work during the day, the other's in the household have said this but Virgin have kept on calling!

I am hoping that they call back in the evening next week as I would prefer to stay with them if they can make it worthwhile. Have not approached the new provider yet and don't want to be without internet for days if they don't call back soon!

Have those who negotiated the 60% off £120 credit deals done so after disconnection or in the notice period? I had one call with a poor offer which I rejected with nothing since.

    I'm 2 weeks from disconnection.

...I negotiated 50% discount plus £25 credit, one day after the switch off date -suspect it would have to be off for a fair bit longer to get 60% plus £120:):)

Mine was also negotiated one day after switch off.
However I was offered only 60%, but after 'gentle persuation' I managed to get £120 as well.

    Hi All,

Thought I would shar emy story.

Just about to move house and cancelled Virgin ready to take Sky back when we move. I ordered online and the next day my OH received a 'Come Back To Sky' letter through the post with 50% off TV/Broadband for 12 months. I phoned the cancellations department (I'm well within my 'cooling off period') and told them that we wanted to cancel and go with the other offer that my OH had received.

Without checking names etc. the lovely lady on the phone applied my OH's offer to my order, but also arranged to get us the full Family package (instead of Variety) within a budget I had given her. Upshot of this, we got an extra 50% off multi-room, free HD pack, and a fiver off the line rental all for 12 months.

In total, we are now getting Family Bundle, 2 x boxes, HD pack, Sky Sports, Talk Weekends and Unlimited Fibre Broadband for £61 for 12 months.

I was astonished and thanked the lovely lady profusely. Well done Sky, a treat to deal with compared to the evil Virgin Media that I have endured for the last 12 months!
  • Dear All,
I would be grateful for any help I can be given.
I currently pay over £100 pm for skyHD, multi room, phone rental and broadband and have been a customer for 15 years.
My HD box has stopped working and has not improved after trying all the soft resets, full resets I have found info on.
I would like sky to replace the box free, but don't know the best way of doing this. I guess I should threaten to cancel (which I might well do), but which is the best way to contact them?

I have read horror stories about getting huge phone bills (presumably if you are on a mobile) and also being on the phone for hours?

Could someone please tell me the best number to call, or should I use the live chat?

    I appreciate any help, thanks

    Chris

If you have a phone contract with Sky then calls to Sky are free. Phone up and cancel but don't accept their first offer. For example, I have Sky full package, phone and broadband and my bill was due to go back up to £99.40 per month (had been paying £56 for last year). Phoned to cancel and they offered 10 months at £53 and 2 months at £99.40. They said they could only offer a 10 month contract. Said I still wanted to cancel, when asked why I said I didn't like the 10 month contract, she went away for a minute and came back to offer 10 months at £46 and 2 months at £56.
Also, I had phoned up a week before to report my TV not working properly and still kept going to standby and not recording programmes, she arranged for an engineer to come out free of charge to put it right and reduced my bill from the date I'd phone up to the date the engineer was due to come so 1st months bill reduced to £12.

My husband watches rugby on BT sport, and has just upgraded to HD with an offer of Freesat from Sky (not Freesat). The offer was for new sky box, new dish and installation for £175, with no subscription. We only needed the new box, but this would have cost £200!It needed a bit of juggling with Sky, BT, and Plusnet, but we got there in the end and have new box, new dish and just pay an extra £7.50 a month to Plusnet for the BT Sport.
