Depends on how old your box is. I've got 2 Sky+HD boxes and neither have built in WiFi.
  • Do Virgin ever add BT Sport as a freebie? It comes as standard with BT so just wondered.

Thats awful, how do you access the "On Demand" stuff that you pay for?

Tbh, i think having an ethernet cable is far far better, as so much affects WiFi signals these days.

Through Ethernet cables. Far better than WiFi.

My parents and son have the little WiFi connectors for their boxes - works well enough.

There are more Sky+HD subscribers with the old boxes that are not WiFi enabled than there are with the new WiFi built in I suspect.

Very true. I would always choose Ethernet over Wifi where possible.

I hadn't seen that upgrade option, but there are a lot of people around with the old style Sky+HD boxes with no WiFi.

I used Ethernet, but you can(/could, possibly replaced by this box upgrade offer?) get a free Wireless Extender from Sky. Put it next to your Sky box, plug your Sky box into it and press the WPS setup buttons on it and your router. Job done

I used to have mine set up via Ethernet and Homeplug (wired networking via your electrical wiring), the connection was superb, much better than WiFi as I lived in flats and could pick up 18+ WiFi networks just from the flats directly adjoining/opposite/diagonal from my own.

    Hi all
I got a letter saying that sky are introducing 'compulsory' charges for calling 0800 numbers and I can cancel even if within a contract. I'm out of contract anyway for both tv and broadband but has anyone argued this new sky charge along with the sky 2 quid increase to get a better deal?
as it stands I am prepared to be without sky and wait for them to call me. I'm just waiting for my sky 50 percent discount to finish in a few weeks before calling though although

I'm not sure they'd be allowed to do that, have you mis-read the letter?
0800 numbers are going to be free from mobiles on 1st July.

Any chance of putting the letter up? After removing personal details obviously.
  • Have those who negotiated the 60% off £120 credit deals done so after disconnection or in the notice period? I had one call with a poor offer which I rejected with nothing since.

    I'm 2 weeks from disconnection.
