Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

Virgin Media have offered me 50meg broadband, phone line, medium TV package plus Sky Sports, Sky Movies and HD for £70/month for 12 months. I presently pay £107/month for this but with 30meg broadband and BT Sport.
Am I likely to get any better by going the full cancellation route and an offer from retentions? N.B we can't get Sky in our block.0 -
just taken this offer on Sky BB via chat:
12 month contract
10 months line rental at £9.99
free broadband for 12 months
£60 credit
Thanks to everyone especially Alias_Omega for the help in the past week or so
Essentially you will pay £6.06 per month for Phone Line and Broadband for the 12 months. The best advice now is to throw the handset in the bin, as most people have a contract phone...with free minutes etc.
Happy to help, just a shame most people dont read this, and just go with 30% off etc. I/we really hammer Sky every year, despite the "we cannot give you 75% off again" conversations. Instead...how about 60% off, and a £100 credit... its the same either way.
Just tell everyone in your work place, or your family now. You will become the "go-to" person for Sky deals.
See you in 12 months..as i dont read this thread often, only when its time for Sky renewal.

'Best advice' ? There is nothing to be gained by throwing away a perfectly good house phone.
We have mobiles on PAYG, for occasional use and find paying £5 a month for Anytime calls the cheapest option for us.-Horses for courses.0 -
Have BB and tel line with Virgin and TV with Sky. Paying £46 to Virgin and £76.25 to Sky. Got Virgin done to £20.50 (prepaid line rental for 1 year). Cancelled Sky and after initial derisory offer, got offer of 60% off TV packages down to £41.25 but no credit at all. Holding out....0

I am new to this forum. My Sky TV Family bundle is due to end in mid June( had 50% off for 12 months through MSE offer). I have completely free Sky BB & LNR for 12 months ending Feb 2016 due to Sky and Openreach taking 8 months to install it.(new building)
I tried to cancel my Sky TV bundle completely as I do not watch often then was offered 10 months 50% off for 10 months. I decided that I wanted to cancel anyway I was put though retention dept and told if I am to cancel my Sky Tv I had to pay full price on Sky BB & LNR about 24 pounds. I thought that they are all on separate contracts? Wonder if anyone could advise please0 -

They are treated separately as far as contracts are concerned. You do get a discount on your BB for having Sky TV but that is £2.50pm so that's all you should pay.
I had a free line rental deal when I cancelled Sky TV - I was not told that I would have to pay line rental but was advised that the extra £2.50pm would apply.
Phone back and cancel the TV. If you get told the same story then query it with them but I suspect this is someone making up a story to get you not to cancel.0 -

Is anyone able to access the Live Chat? Seems to have been busy all week.0

I have just signed up for TV for 12 months with 60% off the variety bundle, £12 per month. They also gave me £100 credit which is used first, don't have to pay anything for 8 months. I had to cancel Sky for six weeks to get this deal. Hope this helps someone.:)0
