    Hi,

My sky deal ends shortly on the 21st Feb. Due to a mess up the cancellation only went through today although they have backdated it to the 21st January. I currently have sky tv variety pack plus sports and movies. It's due to go up to £60. As I was on a half price deal that has note come to an end.

When I phoned to cancel they offered me the following. Should I have accepted or will I be offered better?

Sky tv variety pack plus sports and sky multi room for one additional room all four £40.60 plus first month free. The lady I spoke to said I wouldn't get it any cheaper! Should I hold out our phone them back and go for it?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

you wont get it cheaper at the moment, you have to wait until 21st to get any real deal
  • Thanks for that. But do you think that come the 21st they will actually offer anything better or is this the best it's ever going to get?
  • Managed to get my Virgin XL down from £124 to £94 for 12 months including a third box for our kitchen. Happy with that.

A few months back I managed to get sky variety bundle £28, Standard broadband £0, Line rental with evening and weekend calls £0, and £115 in vouchers. Total for the year £221, bargain, its always worth talking to them.

Am just about to come to the end of my 12 Month Virgin Media contract.
Moved house a year ago and was unsure about taking VM with me but got a special deal of :
    XL TV
    60mb Broadband
    M Telephone .
    1 TiVo box
Should have been £68 but offered 12 Months contract at half price , £34.

I understand that prices will be going up this month ( about £4/5 I think ?) and will be ringing them in the next day or so to try and negotiate a decent deal , would appreciate any advice about what sort of figure I should aim for ?

    Thanks for any replies :money:

normally the offer goes up after you have officially left them, they sometimes call, write or leave messages on the website. for years only paid full subs for a bout 6 months in total and had discounts ranging from 6 months to a year and 10%, 25%, 50% and 75 which I am on now. last one was for 12 months and only came available the day cancelation came through. you are at a good time, think last year offers were end feb / march time due to sky financial year end.

Think I'm going to try a haggle this week, currently paying full whack for everything but the sport (movies, multiroom, Sky Go Extra, Fibre Unlimited and phone).

I'd quite happily go elsewhere so let's see what they come back with...

I'm currently paying £45.27 per month for:

Sky Family with Movies HD (75% discounted)
    Sky multiscreen (full price)
    Broadband (free for 24 months)
    Line Rental (full price)

The 75% discount comes to an end on 20th March, sending bill up to £96

So just phoned to cancel, lady on phone went away for quite some time before coming back and saying there was nothing she could do. She advised me to wait until 21st March, phone back and an "equivalent" deal would be applied to my account meaning I didnt pay full price.

She couldnt guarantee it, nor tell me exactly what deal only that her experience told her a similarly good deal would be available.

Suffice to say I gave my notice, as I explained to her I dont want to be paying full price for my notice period when I get offered a measly 10% discount.

Off to Talk Talk anyway for the 1/2 price line rental & vouchers  and will wait to see what TV offer I get once disconnected.
  • The other half has been missing the Sky channels so I went onto live chat to see if they could better the 50% off for 12 months offer in MySky before I look elsewhere for alternative TV subscription.;)

I ended up getting 50% ( £14 ) off the Variety bundle for 12 months and a £40 credit to my account , before that I was offered 60% off for 10 months then 2 months at full price with a £33 credit to cover the cost of increase on the last 2 months.

I was going to take the 60% deal but wondered if they could come up with anything better if I rejected it and they came back with the other offer which worked out around £7 better.

Call them number somewhere on this thread and tell them your friend has a come back to sky letter for free sky. Play dumb and ask if it's on your account. You will probably get offered a good deal.
