I did get a good deal , well I was happy enough with it , doubt it very much if I could've bettered it at the time , maybe in a few months time when the Sky TV would've been off for a while but definately not less than a month after being cut off.0 -
Apologies if this has been covered before, but called Sky to haggle for the first time ever and I was offered a very miserly 10% off. Paying £46 for just variety + sports and it's jaw hitting the floor stuff hearing what others have haggled.
The Sky account has always been in my name and I've read they're very hard nosed when it comes to moving accounts across by name. Arguably a little immoral but I really can't see what's stopping my partner signing up under her name as a new customer under the 40% that's on here currently, can't see Sky coming up with anything close to that. Does anyone on here have experience of doing that?0 -
I cancelled my sky in January and have been a few week 'sky free'. Had a call at the weekend offering 5 months free on sky (with family bundle), I asking if I could get movies too and they then said it would be free for 3 months. Then after the period it is 50% off with no contract.
I went with the 5 months in the end as I didn't want to pay the higher price.
So if you can live a little without sky there are offers to be had!:beer:0 -

I've done that a few times. Just tell them you're moving out and then your partner orders for his/her move in date. Although to be honest we haven't done it for years now due to the offers for existing customers being so good.0 -

...but payment must come from a different bank account!!0 -
Was haggling this week on Live Chat, was offered and accepted 25% off for 12 months (no contract). Pushed for more (50% etc) and thought this was quite interesting: -
"Ah, there is department in here that sometimes (and I needto stress the word sometimes), call customers who are cancelling, or in theprocess of cancelling their accounts, and offer higher rate discounts. I'd belying to you to deny this. However, they work on postcode regions and don'tjust call every customer, it's not as simple as that I'm afraid. Also, if theydo call, and you are not at home, they do not call back.
Honestly, David, if I could offer you more I would."
Any thoughts?3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0 -

Yep. A load of total rubbish! Quite often there is an offer in MySky of more than 25% before you have even been cut off.0 -
I`m happy with what I got. I`m planning on re-negotiating again once the football season is over (since there was no contract), going on holiday in 3 weeks for a fortnight so didn`t want to be away from home if/when my 31 days notice expired.3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0

Just to clarify, I meant what the Sky operator said was rubbish, not aimed at you or your deal
For future reference, the TV can be switched back on instantly (they will often ask you to check to make sure your channels are back while you are still on the phone) so being away wouldn't have been a problem apart from not being able to record. In fact, being switched off for a week may have resulted in a better deal when you returned home.0 -

Yeah I know that, but don`t fancy dealing with Sky retention calls while in Mexico! Would rather keep what I`ve got in the mena time, with my discount, then sort it out later once the football`s over when I genuinely wouldn`t miss Sky.3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0
