Cancelled sky tv last week, kept bb & phone line. When cancelling was offered free bb for a year but I refused it. Started getting calls from sky this week and answered one today who gave me 50% off tv for ten months which I accepted if I could still get the free bb deal. Ended up getting it so am now paying £54 for all tv channels, hd, bb and phone. Happy enough with that.
My first bill came out last week and was £97!! Was fuming about it and phoned sky and could only get through to their foreign call centre who were very unhelpful. Basically told me my offers were applied after my billing date hence the high bill. At the time I asked what my January bill would be and was told £30.48!! Big difference, anyway going to try again today and get compensated in some way as if that was the case, I would never have taken the deal in the first place. All future bills have been confirmed as £54 which is something I suppose.0 -

No, I only had an old SD sky plus box with variety. I have the family pack now with movies and sports for half price 12 months0 -

It is unusual to get a foreign call centre as they only have a few (possibly one) used at busy or unsocial UK times.
Sky's literature explains that the first bill is always higher, as you pay some in arrears ( from billing date back to setup date) and then a whole month in advance. Subsequent payments are all then in advance.0 -
Anyone else get the line that the HD element of Sports and Movies requires an extra payment on top of the Family HD with Sports and Movies pack??
In other words, Family pack with Sports and Movies is £66 a month so 50% off is £33 a month but this only includes HD on some channels and does not include HD on the Sports and Movies channels which is an extra £10.50 a month or £5.25 a month if discounted by 50%.
I was previously offered £33 a month for full Family package including sports and movies all in HD (and have the transcript of my chat to prove it) but this has magically risen to £38.25 as they are saying the original offer was a mistake and they will not honour it.0 -
Have just phoned to cancel my package and was offered a reduction from £96 down to £78 (TV/BB/Phone) which i refused.
I went ahead and cancelled my TV but not my Phone/BB as i need these for work purposes.
Are those who are getting offered 50% deals cancelling all services? Am i likely to get offered any better deals with just cancelling TV?
Result.
I cancelled my TV package only last week. Had 3 calls from Sky, didn't have chance to answer until tonight.
I accepted 10 months, no contract, 50% off TV, 35% off multi room, one off £50 account credit.
I probably could have pushed for more but for me that's a £500/year saving so I'm happy with that.:beer:0 -
I spoke to them via chat again this evening and they are now saying that the best offer they can do is £40.75 a month for 10 months and then back to £71.50 a month - it has gone up each time I contact them this week!
I have had enough - I am due to be cut off on 05.02.15 - I'll just go without it. I'm fed up with their antics.0 -
currently on virgin
landline weekends
m+ 50mb broadband
46 pounds
left sky 19 months ago still have my old sky hd box hooked up
i was offered 28.50 for family and sky sports with a brand new sky hd wifi setbox contract is 12 months though i did ask if i could use my old HD box but he said they don't allow this if its more than 18 months old.
do you think its possible i could get broadband only for 20 pounds from virgin that combination would be great but i would lose the tivo box which is far better than sky hd.0 -

I was on a similar Virgin package as you last year (actually upgraded to 50mb) since.
I said I did not want the TV+ anymore as no better than Freeview really.
I ended up getting Telephone (free weekend calls) and at the time 30mb Broadband for £23.49 and still on that with the 50mb.
got this
You're Receiving A £8 Loyalty Discount. If You Change Your Package You May Lose This Discount Which Will End 05-AUG-15
They wanted the box back and sent a package to send it back
I also get from Sky the full movies/Sports etc for 60% off at £31.65 with £50 cashback after following the advice on here last September (after going through full cancellation and not accepting offer till it got to 60% as mentioned here)
Family with Sports & Movies HD 11 Jan - 10 Feb £71.25
Viewing Subscription Discounted 11 Jan - 10 Feb - £39.60
so following advice on here get everything from both suppliers for just over £55.0 -

My 75% is ending shortly. I will cancel it. A 50% discount wouldn't tempt me to stay.0 -

I had that today. I was disconnected this morning, and the 50% came up on mysky. Moved from family pack to complete, but it was £38.25. I agreed when they gave me £50 statement credit, so happy enough with that. Its 12 months offer.
I wanted a 2TB box but they refused to offer any discount on the £249 price, asked a couple of times (I was willing to pay £49 for it).0
