We've been with them about 17 month and use them for everything, tv, phone and broadband..
Hi there, is your contract nearly up or about to end? the reason I ask is that I called them last week and wanted to upgrade from 20 to 50Mb BB and my V+ HD box to Tivo. Initial lady in sales would gladly do the upgrade and charge me £30 to upgrade BB and £49 for Tivo plus extra charges on top It was coming out quite expensively.
I asked to be put through to retentions and the guy was more than helpful. He said that because I was coming to the end of my contract and had been a customer for a few years, he would do all the upgrades, Waive the £79 and move my exsisting V+ HD box to my bedroom upstairs for free. I was paying £64 and it is now going to be £74 and another years contract. :T
So contact the retentions team and have a chat with them.
Good luck!!0 -
I've taken the plunge and cancelled Virgin media, lady who took the cancellation didn't try and keep me at all. I'm looking at current BT infinity deal to replace.
Got a follow up call last night as the lady wanted to know my security password (why would I give some random stranger my password?) before she would talk to me. Is this the normal way Virgin try and keep customers?
I would contact retentions department, I've always found them more than helpful and almost human:rotfl:0 -
My Sky contract is is due to end in a month so I went through the 'thinking of leaving' options. I am currently paying £34.50 for basic channels and 3 'option' packs.
Got offered all basic channels, all movies and all sports for :- £42 for 2 months
- £46 for next two months
- £63 following that
- £37 for 6 months, no contract (obviously I wont let it get beyond that period)

OK...is this just for new customers? What is retentions phone number?
This for returning customers who have cancelled in the last 12 months. You need to have your old dish and box to qualify. I don't have the number to hand, sorry.
The guy on the phone confirmed that for £26 a month you could get the Sky World package.
I caved in and agreed to the Sky Variety package and Sky Sports for £19.86pm. Not bad considering its £19.50pm just for the basic package normally2021

Hi Folks - Just scanned this thread - interesting stuff.
Planning to ring Sky 2morrow looking to get some price reduction, currently pay £34 pm and am not in any contract.
Just so I get this right I plan to tell them I am thinking of leaving as I cannot afford the £34. What type of reduction (if any) can I expect to be offered, am I likely to get offered a reduction straight off or will I have to hold my nerve a bit - and what if they say "ok then we will disconnect you straight away" (note I do not plan to leave Sky and am happy with my current package) - Just looking to pay at little less............. Ta in advance0 -

i was on virgin gave my notice to cancel, was paying £38 for 20mb bb and unlimited talk and line rental
signed up to sky free fone install, three months free 20mb bb and unlimited anytime calls. cost £24.25. (bascially their bog standard advertised price)
Install date was due for early august
a nice chap from virgin media made a decent attempt to keep me
20m bb, unlimted anytime landline calls, free caller display and 250 mins free 0845/0870 calls. (as i mentioned sky give 0870 and caller display free) All for £25 including phone line rental. 12 month contract for both.
Now i was prepared to cancel but an amazing deal i thought. just because their bb is the best out there. The free 0845/0870 should ensure i dont go over on my bill
By the way tv monthly deals i was getting offered by virgin were shocking, they were standard rate. all i could manage was a free v+ hd box. so i declined.
with sky for tv on half price deal, i hear best time to get offers is the day your contract expires. So even though you can give your notice to cancel 30 days prior, unlikely to get a decent offer if anything0 -
BellaWella wrote: »Well done, when i got my 6 months half price orignally they said ring up when it expires and they may be able to do something for you. So thats how i start the call.
i had no joy as i just phoned them up...... i said exactly that and i was basically creeping and being totally nice thinking i would defo get a reduction but no joy...............
she said no deals at the moment:( for me anyway.........0
