  • Currently waiting for my sky to be cut off and still only 35% off offer on the table. I was just about to pull the pin and order BT TV and do away with sky for good, but I guess in the run up to Xmas the Quidco rate for cashback has dropped from £180 to £40!! Tight wads :D not that desperate for it, will wait for the new year when they get desperate ;) Who knows by then may get the utopia of 100% free sky for 4 months if they still do it for those off for a while. Got that a couple of years ago and they rolled it over 3 times. Now that would be nice :rotfl:
  • I called Sky today as we signed up for Sky in December 2013 and realised that we hardly use the TV element of it (we watch a lot of TV online).
After finding it difficult to actually get hold of someone, I finally spoke to someone online about a broadband and line rental deal. They offered me the line rental (£16.40) and unlimited broadband for 12 months at £2.50 a month. I asked if we could get a broadband booster thrown in for free - normally £22.00 - and they said they couldn't do that. They then offered me 12 months of free unlimited broadband if we paid the line rental.

I was quite happy with this so called a separate number to cancel my TV. They then offered me 12 months at half price. Whilst we appreciated this, we really don't need the extra expense so cancelled anyway but it was nice to know! We have gone from £55 a month to £18.90 (a £2.50 fee applies if you don't have TV) so savings of £433.20 a year. Obviously without TV now but still very happy with that!

We did the same as you a couple of weeks back.
Just pay the line rental with free broadband now.
But-you have been told wrong, there is no longer any £2.50 fee if you dont take TV(someone correct me if it has changed again)
Otherwise get back to SKY to have it removed.
Probably an operator going by old information.

Broadband is still £15, £10 with phone and £7.50 with phone and tv.

My original offer was £15 (anytime calls and broadband, with free line rental) . Then when I added half price tv at £14,the total was £26.50 (ie broadband £2.50 less with tv)

    So, who pays £15 ??

You can't have Sky BB without Sky Talk - can you?

Some early broadband clients may still have standalone and some people who were with O2/BE were given just broadband, as a special.

Any of these when out of special offer period, will be charged full price, if they don't renegotiate.

The Standard SkyPlus HD box (a DRX 890W) turned up via the Posty on Saturday.

I read this post and at last some one is saying things based on fact relating to the box itself. As a result I have checked the printing on the exterior of the box it arrived in and can verify what you said was true -

For any one new to all this like myself - a standard box is only 500Gig, not 1TB as I had mistakenly understood. I have to say all the conversations with the Sky sales person they never corrected me as to the capacity of the box. However it is free to me, as in there is no charge, and it appears on the inventory.

I am expecting a 2TB machine, that I paid £49 quid for, to be installed on Thursday. HD service and MulitiScreen are on the order, all at half price for 12 months.

So thats when the multiscreen box, (or non recording decoder) should also arrive.

Apparently you get the subsidised 2TB box when you upgrade to MultiScreen - it may have something to do with Family bundle and movies upgrade incentive.

Is this still adverse to what more experienced hagglers know can be negotiated from Sky?

Also - another question, on the My Sky, My Package screen on the extreme left there are a series of green ticks. This indicates services that have been bought and working as far as I can tell. However there are also curled green arrows. I have one against MultiScreen. The engineer is coming on Thursday this week to do the install. Is the curly arrow a graphic to indicate work in progress?

    Cheers

Sky don't sell 1TB boxes anymore so if you have a "fully discounted" box then this will be a standard 500GB box.
If they have sold you a 1TB box then it will be about 2 years old!
The 1TB and 2TB boxes are exactly the same box just with a different hard drive inside and you will not get a discount on one if you have had a discount on the other.

You need to call Sky as you are NOT getting what you think you are!
  • Hi peeps,

Looking for some advise before I call Sky.

We currently have, Sky TV family bundle + HD
    Unlimited broadband
    Sky calls unlimited
    Line rental
All together costs us £49 a month (With discounts on the TV, internet, & HD) Normal monthly cost of £61.

These “discounts” are due to expire this month and I am wondering whether it would be cheeky of me to try my luck again for a third year? This years discounts was rubbish - But a £1 off is better than nothing.

So any advice as to what I can say? I used the excuse that we would leave them for a better deal last time and the advisor told me that they put these reasons on your “notes” - Not sure if they actually do! Any help would be fab!!
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

"I would like to give my 30 days notice and cancel my services" should be enough to get the ball rolling.
