I have the multi room at half price and I suspect that I can get 50 - 60 quid for the 1TB after 12 months, especially if it is rarely used. Even if I don't flog it it may be useful for when I have too many shows you want to record at the same time. We will see:)
I can see that they supply a Multi Screen box - that will be redundant.
I don't quite understand the decoder advice you said at end?
Sky don't sell 1TB boxes anymore so if you have a "fully discounted" box then this will be a standard 500GB box.
If they have sold you a 1TB box then it will be about 2 years old!
The 1TB and 2TB boxes are exactly the same box just with a different hard drive inside and you will not get a discount on one if you have had a discount on the other.
You need to call Sky as you are NOT getting what you think you are!0 -

The MultiScreen 'box' is a 'decoder'

The MultiScreen 'box' is a 'decoder'
The 1TB SkyPlus HD 'box' is not simply a decoder
But to differentiate between the decoder and the 1TB SkyPlus HD - the 1TB SkyPlus HD is not purely a decoder because it has the record functions
Is this correct?
I'm not sure where you got that idea, my main box and multiroom box are exactly the same Sky+HD boxes, as are the ones everyone else I know who have multiroom have.
The boxes do exactly the same thing. Sky haven't had a standard box for many years, they haven't even had a standard Sky+ box for at least 6 years (or possibly even longer).
Even if you don't want HD, you still get an HD box, the HD channels just aren't provisioned.====0 -

The standard sky box for mutiroom subscriptions is called a "multiscreen" box and do not come with a harddrive or record facility.0 -

Unless customers actively select a recording decoder (and pay an additional fee), Sky only provide a basic non-recording decoder. This is what new multi-room customers receive for free;

We're with Virgin Media and were paying ~£46/mo for M+ TV (+Asian Mela package) / 30Mb Broadband / Evening+Weekend Calls around 2years ago and with the VM price increases it eventually was around £51/mo in the last year. It includes the free BB upgrade to 50MB. No Tivo.
Our 2nd yr contract ended and they wanted us to pay £56/mo and £5/mo if we wanted Tivo. We decided to cancel and 3-4 days later we got a call from "Retentions Manager" who gave us all what we were getting + Tivo for £47/mo and took the pre-pay line rental for a yr as well for £1440 -

That's a bit mean of them, when did that start happening?
I know someone who got multiroom earlier this year (I've had mine around 18 months now) and both boxes are DRX890's, (as are mine).====0 -

You are far better buying a 2nd hand Sky HD box from fleabay, you can get them for under £30 normally.
Take care though, our last one from ebay was flagged as having a sky contract attached when we came to activate, but looking further checks from sky showed it had ended. It still took a manager override to activate it but been fine since. So always check with the person you are buying from.0
