Using all your good advice I hung on and got a very good deal - at least I was satisfied with it.applicationcen wrote: »the reason why I went for a multi room deal when I don't need it - was that I calculated that as long as I pay the 12 months subscriptions I own both boxes outright and selling one will effectively make the 12 months multi screen free of charge.
Second hand Sky decoders sell for £20 on E-Bay and from Cash Converters etc.
If you sell a decoder without using it, then you won't have Multi-Room.0 -
I was very wary and reported the user to the Mods.
I investigated the link as though it was a scam.
I did ask/warn people herein of what was sent to me. (But the hyperlink was genuine and it helped when bargaining).
You are right to point out the very real danger of scams - so well done on picking up on that point.
I have both a 1TB and a 2TB SkyPlusHD Box in my order - the 1TB is fully discounted, the 2TB partly discounted leaving a one off payment of £49 . I have the multi room at half price and I suspect that I can get 50 - 60 quid for the 1TB after 12 months, especially if it is rarely used. Even if I don't flog it it may be useful for when I have too many shows you want to record at the same time. We will see:)
I can see that they supply a Multi Screen box - that will be redundant.
I don't quite understand the decoder advice you said at end?Moneyineptitude wrote: »If this was sent unsolicited, I'd be very wary.
Do you really believe you can get someone to purchase a second-hand Sky box (which will have been used for a year) for £135? Sky charge customers £149 for a 2 TB Sky+HD which is brand new!

Help please. I've cancelled my Sky tv package with2 multirooms and it's gone off today.
I've tried live chat and also calling them but they'll only reduce the variety pack by 60%, and are not budging on the multirooms?
What options do I have so they reduce the price even more?
Even with 60% off its £33.70 a month?
They say they can't reduce the multirooms at all.0 -
The discount is generally on the TV package rather than the extras (HD, multiroom, etc) so if you dont think that 60% off is good enough then you might be waiting a while for a better offer...0

I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting a discount on multiroom.====0 -
I received a letter in the post from Sky today. On the front of the envelope it says...
"Holding out for the best Sky TV deal you can get? Your wait is over".
Turns out to be the 33% off Sky TV for 5 years deal.
I'll be giving that offer a huge swerve.0 -

I cant be bothered playing games for a month to get further discounts.
Hi smerch - were you offered the 50% discount during the online chat conversation - or did it show up on your account? I will be cancelling in the morning, and hoping to get offered this level of discount or I will be saying goodbye.0 -

Good luck getting £60 for a year-old box when brand new ones sell for £20.0 -

...you might be able to get a one off bill credit on top of the 60% off to "sweeten" the deal -I accepted £25 credit but I've seen claims of £50 and even £100 credits -that would effectively reduce your monthly fee to ~ £25.40 ?? Worth a go!:)0 -
So that both myself and other people follow exactly what you are getting at :-
The MultiScreen 'box' is a 'decoder'
The 1TB SkyPlus HD 'box' is not simply a decoder
But to differentiate between the decoder and the 1TB SkyPlus HD - the 1TB SkyPlus HD is not purely a decoder because it has the record functions
Is this correct?Moneyineptitude wrote: »I said that you effectively would not have had a Multi-Room subscription if you sold your Mullti-Room box prior to using it.
