we currently have the everything bar sky movies , 2 extra multiroom boxes and MUTV and HD in everything plus phone/bb
my dad gets annoyed as in the space of 12months the prices have gone up by £38 for everything
he phoned up and said is there anything you can do and was told no , he said he wanted to cancel and they didnt budge so has cancelled ( 13th dec is last date ) he had a call monday saying they can offer 1/2 price MUTV for 12mths and free BB for 12mths
he basically said if you come back with a one time only offer i will stay they said they cant do that for individual customers ( been with sky since 1992 ) so looks like we are going to leave
the annoying this is all these ads for new customers getting 50% off a free tablet / M&S voucher"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -
What phone number is everyone using to speak to SKY ?
I just called the number I found on 'saynoto' and ended up speaking to someone in Asia.
I usually get someone with a Scottish Accent, so I was rather surprised.
I found out what I am paying now, and need to haggle it down or cancel, but thought it no use trying to do that with 'Eugene' as he will not have the authority to agree anything.
I have trawled back on here but cannot see any phone numbers listed.
Just to confirm, is 50% off and free line rental the best deal currently on offer from SKY?
Thanks for any help0 -
I just did a good haggle on this number
08442 410 486
Spoke to genuine sounding Scotsman called Andrew, id = ANM52
Who was great with me:)The_Old_Bag wrote: »What phone number is everyone using to speak to SKY ?

You must have been unlucky as Sky have few, possibly just one, foreign call centre. One of their people told me these are only used at busy times and during unsociable hours.
I had no luck with Scottish call centres, but did well with one in Derby.
I used the cancelling Talk (03) number from Sky's website, as I had already cancelled tv via the general 03 number by asking for retentions/cancellations. There are several 03 numbers to choose from, on the website.0 -
Its free to call sky from a sky landline so why use an alternative number?0

I couldn't wait for them to ring me coz I was itching to do a haggle!
It worked out pretty good.
First call to 08442 410 486 I got through to a chap and agreed a figure of 29.75 per month for Family bundle, Movies and the HD service inclusive. plus a one off £49 for the 2 TB box - just as I was about to do the direct debit for a 12 moth contract the line went dead.
Second call got through to Andrew id ANM52, who was very good and the line did not go dead.
He could not honour the 29.75, but did agree £30 Family, Movies, HD and 1TB machine.
I eventually went multi room, Family, mobies and HD for a total of £35.62 with one free 1TB machine and a 2TB machine for a one off £49.0 -

So you are a week into your notice period. You will get much better offers than that, and in all likelyhood you will get the 50% off, but you just need to hold your ground. The best option is to let it cancel and go off. The minute you are no longer paying them money the deals will come.
Ringing them all the time just doesn't work, the odd one maybe but let it go off and let them ring you.
TBH we found that when it went off for the first time you find you can live quite happily without sky, so we love the cancel TV game of chicken every year now.0 -
Hi guys - I was shocked to learn we're paying £82.50 per month for Sky... just for TV! It sounds so much. Hopefully you can give me a little advice in how to reduce this price? We've had it for around 20 odd years, so it's crazy to read the offers new customers are getting.
We have the Family Bundle, HD, Sky Movies, Sky Sports and 2 boxes multiroom.
Is it possible to just call and ask for a discount, or is the best way to cancel and I'll rejoin as a new customer? Cheers.0 -

I was in the same situation a few months ago, only difference I was paying £93.75 per month just for TV! I have 3 boxes (two multiroom).
My advice based on my recent experience and following sensible advice on this forum thread is as follows...
1. Maintain the account in your dad's name. Sky will be suspicious of a name change to an account at the same address.
2. Phone up to cancel the whole subscription claiming you can no longer afford it.
3. Do not accept their derisory offer to stay. Be fully committed to cancellation.
4. After cancellation and during your final months notice of viewing, Sky will probably phone you up offering a 12 month contract and discount to remain a subscriber. It is likely to be 33% off the full package (not including multiroom or HD). That would knock over £20 off the monthly bill from £82.50 to approximately £62.17 per month. My advice would be to stick to your guns and reject the offer.
5. Wait until your months notice period is completed thus ending the subscription and Sky switch the channels off.
6. Switch off appears to immediately trigger a better discount in a lot of cases, which in my case is currently an offer of 50% discount or a Samsung Galaxy Tab. In your dad's case, that would equate to a saving of £30.50 per month and a monthly subscription of £52 per month for 12 months. You may wish to settle for that.
7. Or, like me, you may realise after a few weeks of being switched off that you don't really need Sky at all. My bank balance is already healthier to the tune of 2 x £93.75 = £187.50 and I've only been switched off since 16th October
8. There are some who have been successful haggling beyond a 50% discount and in some cases getting 60% discounts and £100 credits to their account. Whether you wish to play the haggling game to that extent is entirely up to you.
Hope this is of help to you.0 -

Thanks very much, this is very helpful! Will definitely be quitting - hopefully there will be a decent offer or will perhaps move to another provider.
When you say it appears to trigger an automatic 50% discount - I'm guessing you mean this appears in the online account?
Cheers again!0
