  • Cutting the cord so only really interested in a free trial. 1 week into cancellation and they rang to offer 50% and 60 GBP credit to first bill which means about 2.5 month free. Not as good as 75% I was on. Not sure sky go as low as that anymore. Ringing back Sat 2pm so we'll see.

I know that people have been offered periods of free viewing, but realistically it seems to me at present, that in the vast majority of cases retention staff cannot/ will not offer more than 50% or 60%, with or without a modest one-off account credit.

For anybody seriously considering a return to Sky in the short-term, then those are realistic discounts to be aiming for, in my view. Anything above that and the majority of customers will find themselves waiting for an offer that may never come.:)

I just managed to get a small reduction of £15 per month. this is for the family pack with HD and box sets. it now works out at £18 per month. not bad for a ten min. call. I had to push for that though.

When I first went on online chat to cancel - the very first offer I had was free for 3 months (worth £138) - then back to normal price. She then "upped" offer to 35% for 6 months with no free period -except that,as I pointed out, this 2nd offer was worse than the first on my tariff:rotfl:I suggested that 3 months free followed by 35% for 9 months MIGHT be acceptable but she wouldn't budge.
Had to actually cancel to get a much better offer which I accepted.

Missed 2 calls this week, then they called when I was in on Thursday morning.
Mine went off nearly 3 weeks ago. I only had Sky tv.
I had all channels including Sky Sports and Movies. No HD, no multiroom.
I was immediately offered 60% discount for a year, £100 credit and no contract.
That's exactly what I had already decided I wanted before I cancelled, so I accepted.

.maybe I should have waited :(..........:rotfl:
  • Just spoke to a nice guy, but he couldn't get me to where I wanted to be.

Entertainment pack, movies and multi room. 12 months of 50% off about to end, and best I could get to was some new offer they are running which is 33% off for 5 years, but need to sign up for a 12 month contract, so far worse than my current non contracted offer. After a bit more discussion he offered a reduction to 9.99 for 10 months for my line rental if I took the 5 year offer.

I declined and gave notice as I'm not really looking to pay more than I already do, so I'll see if any better deals are forthcoming
  • I am with virgin and had been for 6 years I rang them to see if I could get a deal as I am paying over the odds they wouldn't budge on price and just kept saying why don't I downgrade my tv to save money, I gave them 30 days notice to see if they would ring me with a better deal but yesterday I received the packaging to return the tv/router boxes back to virgin. Does this mean I am not going to get a call from them, I cancelled 6 days ago. Can anyone tell me how long it was until they got a call back?

Ive been with Sky since analogue days, but I was looking to lower my monthly costs. I have the full whack with Sky, multiroom, all channels, Sky Talk and Fibre Broadband. My monthly bill is @ £113. I phoned Sky to see what they could offer in terms of discount - a reduction of £15 per mth for three months.
Phoned BT- their equivalent is £42 pm for mths 1-3, £55 for mth 4-6 and then £57 thereafter. 12mth contract for tv and 18mth for BB. This includes Netflix and BTSport which I currently pay over and above my Sky sub. BT will be getting SKY Sports 1.2.& 5 and when that comes on line it will be another £22 pm. Even taking that into account it is a huge saving for us and a no-brainer really.
I am out of contract for TV with Sky but still have another year to go with my BB package. BT are buying me out of that - £145.
I went back to SKY with all that info and they couldn't/wouldn't match it. The best they could offer was reducing my monthly fee to £88.50 pm so I am leaving!
Hope this helps someone - I am
so sick of Sky, their prices just creep up and up and you get nowt for being a loyal customer!
