Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

Thanks Gem
Ill continue to wait. Mighty tempting to haggle though - got haggle fever! The Family Bundle includes HD channels and any offer for that bundle will include the channels in HD. What is not included in HD is if you add the Movies and Sports you need to pay extra for HD and that is not reduced.
That's standard practice. All offers are still subject to normal price increases. You still get your discount but based on the new price.
You should be able to get 50% if you wait.0 -
Phoned to cancel, said ok lol been with them 15 years lol0

When I cancelled I was surprised how they handle the billing process. It is actually quite straightforward, but I was confused to begin with. They calculate a months notice from when you call - then make up the balance between the termination date and when you are already paid up till. The last bill I had was a bit less as it came half way through the normal billing cycle.Phoned to cancel, said ok lol been with them 15 years lol0

I was cancelled for about 2 months and got 50% off in the end. When the contract runs out next year I'm cancelling again, but this time will persevere for 75 % off. If I dont get it, its no big loss. IPlayer is really good on Smart TV's and thats all I really 'need' to be honest.0 -
Called couple days ago threatened to leave after some 15years with Sky, young lad in retentions team didnt seem too bothered and did very little to offer any loyalty discount other than Sky Sports half price for 9 months
Called again couple days later and spoke to two lads in downgrade and canx team both went out of their way to retain my custom and in end was offered 35% off Sky Sports+ Variety package for 8 months and half price multi room for 12
Total saving v current payment was £215 over 12month period
Could have got broadband line rental inclusive calls bundle chucked in at heavily discounted price as well but just recently upgraded to TT fibre deal (yet to go live) so didnt take up the offer#
I really do believe its pot luck and the advisor you speak to is in terms of what discounts you get offered....moto is if you dont succeed first time try again later
Hope this helps others to try and get discount on their current sky package0 -
It really has nothing to do with the advisor you speak to. The offers available change from day-to-day and the staff can only offer what's on screen in front of them. I do agree there is a certain amount of room for "haggling", however, and how you speak to the other individual goes no small way towards getting you to the best deal available more quickly.
The best deals are reserved for those who cancel (not threaten to) and mean it.0 -
Is any one on this thread getting Private Messages in their inbox from members saying that they are sky employees and offering 50% off skyTV,
asking you for your private email address and then sending emails with things that 'look' like they are from Sky?0 -
If so can you report them by clicking on the button in the pm
They may not be " official " emails from Sky for a start !!Ex forum ambassador

Not the point , they should not be doing it and certain members of the forum know they should not be doing it ( the users know who I mean ! )Ex forum ambassador
