Best overheard haggle in a shopping centre
"I can give you 10% off, but only if you take up the Family package"
After a year they have finally given up sending out "come back" letters (knowing my luck another will arrive tomorrow, to be sent back to sender with "not wanted" written on it)0 -
I'm pretty sure last time my income dropped we called up Sky and they discounted our package a little bit without removing any channels, it was a while ago now. Has anyone had the same? I've just started maternity pay which isn't great so we were looking at where to cut back. I've tried calling them but there's a long queue at the moment. It can't hurt to ask. I'd suggest telling them about your drop in income and that you're having to consider all money-saving options and that your Sky subscription, as an obvious luxury, is one of them.
Say something like you were considering trying to continue by dropping to the lowest package and then see how the conversation goes. You never know ........Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
We went off from sky in early Sept. Bought a BT DTR 2110 Youview box new from ebay for £100 quid. Great bit of kit. Typically, Sky then phoned up and offered 60% off any package for a year. Just went with bog standard package costing just over £11 month. Agreed to that for a year, mainly for kids' benefit, but will cancel after a year and stick with youview.0

I have had massive successes with discounts from Sky, but mine have often came with tie-ins.
You should know that they can put reductions on anything, line rental, packages, equipment, installation. However these seem to be reserved for long time customers.
As mentioned, explain your situation, reduce the amount of packages and add-ons you may have. chances are they will give you something cheap for you to keep it.
If you are going to try the give me a discount or i'll leave, ensure that you mean it. Or you could end up with paying nothing at all to sky.0 -
My cancellation is not an empty threat ..... I have done it.
I did explain to the call taker that I already have a Humax Freesat box I will be using instead of the Sky one so there will be no additional costs to me ..... the only thing I will lose out on is Sky Sports as the other channels we watch are on Freesat/Freeview anyway.
.
I wasn't aware that Sky call customers back after the 30 day notice period (or whatever they call it).
If they do call me it would have to be a VERY good deal in order for me to return ...... after all, they could have offered the same deal yesterday as they might do next month !!

They called me once and my husband asked them to call the next day, as I was in hospital, but they never did. I got no offers via any means for tv, but when I needed to sort phone/bb, asked what they could add.
I got free line rental and half price Variety (downgraded from Family as we don't need HD) plus £10 credit, which I didn't request (it was offered).0 -
Any help please?ive been with them for nearly 11 years,I'm paying £50.50 a month for variety package and 2 multi rooms without any discount, and have given my notice on the 20.10.14 as the best they could offer was £29.87 a month.
Do you think they'll reduce my monthly cost as at the moment I can only see a 35% discount of my package and not the multirooms on the 'my Sky' page?
That is more expensive than why I have been offered on the phone?
They've said they can't reduce the cost of the multirooms at all, even after calling a few times and doing an online chat?0
