Okay so in day 2 of notice to quit.
    Email Interested I think not
Redeem your offer to save on your Sky TV

To say thanks for being a Sky customer, we're offering you 15% off your Sky TV subscription for the next 12 months when you sign up for another 12 months.
To redeem your offer, just click the Redeem now button and enter your Sky iD username and password when asked so we can confirm you are the recipient of the email and are eligible to take up this offer. Don't have a Sky iD or need help with your username or password?
This offer will remove any existing TV offers on your account. It will not affect any existing Sky HD, Sky Multiscreen, Sky Go Extra, Sky Broadband and Talk (including Sky Line Rental) or hardware offers.
By clicking the Redeem now button below, you agree to the terms and conditions of the offer and confirm that you are the account holder and authorised to make changes to this account.

It's just a generic email sent to everyone. I got it although I'm only in my first month of contract renewal.

    Virgin Media
I rang on Wednesday to cancel got a rather nasty man , ended up asking for supervisor and was refused so put in a complaint, still waiting for them to contact me.
yesterday I got a call from the cancellation team at 3.45pm who wanted to help - gave him password and then he said his computer had crashed so I would get a call in 15 minutes still waiting.
I am after a better deal at the moment I pay £63 a month for
    xl tv
    50mg broadband (that's a joke)
    phone anytime
I was wanting to try and get them to match sky any ideas what you think would be a good offer
    tia
  • I have researched my TV, Phone and Broadband offers and found a deal for similar to what I have from Sky.
BT offers Unlimited Fibre, basic TV + 20 extra channels + sports, weekend calls at £15.99 pm + £16.99 line rental all for 6 months then going up twice for 18 month contract.
Just rang Sky to cancel in the hope of a deal and am somewhat disappointed.....
I currently pay £65 for all that less the Sports. The best they could offer me was half price Fibre saving me £10.
Not impressed. As much as I love Sky they just can't match BT. Gutted.

So a real surprise this evening. A call from Sky. I am only 2 days into my notice period. The agent claimed he was 100% from the same dept that "won me back" after actual switch off last year. I am not convinced but so what.
I put it to him that I am an all or nothing sky tv customer and in fact wanted to upgrade the basic part to family, retain sports and movies and upgrade to HD. I also have a multiroom I want to retain.
I then next stated that a discounted "all in" package would still give Sky a much healthier income than a non discounted basic customer. So we cut to the chase as I asked for his best offer that I would accept or the call was over.
So I was offered 50% of Tv package for 12 months. 35% of multiroom package for 12 months. £50 credit.
New 12 month contract which to be fair in this case I am obliged to due to the upgrade.
Needless to say I have accepted as am fairly sure only perhaps 60% is available but the 35% of multiroom was a surprise anyway.

I believe laying your cards on the table in a strong but fair way, and pointing out that me on board again, is circa £40 a month more than a non sky customer, and circa £20 a month better than a basic customer.
Everyone's a winner is the motto.
Yes my job means I negotiate for a living but you can all do it.
  • I have an old Sky box which I want to give to a relative and pay for a basic sub. They don't need HD.

What sort of price range should I be looking at?
  • Got a call from sky trying to entice me back on a 50% off deal, managed to get them up to 60%, but they wouldn't go any higher. Took Sky Family for £13.20 a month, happy with that. I was without sky for 5 weeks.

If they aren't already existing customers the best deals are available to them and would include a new Sky box and dish -so they wouldn't need your old box -if you are going to pay ad nauseam for their package be aware that altho the money would come from your account THEY would be the customer,so Sky wouldn't talk to you re tech problems etc
  • After being with virgin for a year, with big kahuna, they increased charges by almost 6.5% and decided to cancel. They tried to give me a discount to stay but to be fair virgin is well overpriced, even after the discount they offered. And its the principle of it. Virgin has been increasing charges twice a year for the last couple of years. I have been virgin costumer for many years, on and off, even when it was ntl. I always had a good broadband and tv package and used to pay 35/40 pounds. Now the equivalent, as broadband speeds have increased, has more than doubled.
At the end kept only broadband, £26.50 a month, as their broadband in my area is very reliable, and previous experiences with sky and bt on adsl were not up to scratch. And i dont really need a landline.
For tv, as an old sky costumer and with a functioning sk+ y hd box, i went to sky chat and managed to get 50% off with a £50 credit. They went as far as 60% off but would not agree to add a credit, which would be more expensive than the 50% deal.
So, instead of paying £71.50 to virgin, after price increases, i will be spending around £40.00 for the products i actually want and need. Happy chap!!!

Wife phoned to give final 1 months notice. We only have the entertainments left as everything else cancelled. And went to bt for phone and broadband and glad I did as internet seems somewhat faster all the time, and we got a good deal.

So got put threw 2 people nd the last person asked why we where leaving, and wife said nowt is cheaper.we were offered a discount of 15 per month for 12 months bringing it down to 6.50 per month for entertainment package. Cheaper than nowtv. Snapped there hand off.
