If I move house with Sky and take them up on the 6 month half price will they re-contract me in? Wasn't mentioned on the phone.

I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but i'd like to sign up for Sky, are there any special deals around at the moment?

I've just signed up with sky (thanks to all previous replies by the way, i had to take Broadband connect due to the area I live in). I got Entertainments pack with knowledge, variety & news/events, broadband connect & telephone (free eve/wend calls) for £43.75. Had i done this online it would've cost £50.75 and i'd have got £25 m&s voucher, i grovelled to the person on the phone and got £30 discount instead so you pay more if you sign up with them online - plus by talking to someone on the phone i got all my installation dates etc.

Try going via quidco or topcashback as they always have joining offers on depending on the mix you choose.

    HELLO!

I've not been on the forum for well over a year, and I don't even know if I've even contributed as it's been that long since I logged on, so apologies.

    ...

I've personally had a 12 month reduction in my subscription and then a 6 month discount using the 'I still can't afford it' rule. I don't know if it's been discussed before but It was made clear to me (by 2 Sky employees) that Sky are taking notes as to the reasons for the discount.

Now for people like me who have had 2 discounts in a short period, I think I'm at a disadvantage regarding negotiation, so how are people going about getting a better deal when faced with a simple "NO", and maybe have used their best excuse?

P.S. Off topic but is anyone else annoyed as me about the Anytime+ service not being available to non Sky BB subscribers?

What's worse is that even if I did switch to Sky BB, I could freeze Hell quicker than I can send an e-mail.

    That's ADSL for you. ;)

Having same issue regarding Sky logging notes on system to say i had been offered a deal and didnt take.

As said above i had 6 month deal end and rang up for another offer which they offered 25% deal and 12 month contract. Said no and rang up again today. They said they could see i was offered 25% and reinstated that was the best they could do for me.

Tried blagging it by saying you'll be getting more value for money in September when you can access all channels for same amount you're on now. Didnt buy it and said about HD again and they would offer 50% off HD sub for 6 months, but wouldnt combine the two offers. I did point out that both those offers combined would be enough to convince me to sign up for a futher 12 months but wouldnt do it.

Now checked Virgin who are offering TIVO box with HD to sky channels free (depending on your package) for just a few £ more or even a few £ less if i blagged it and said i would take the smaller tv package as only use for Sky sports.

So gonna ring up again soon asking to cancel as Virgin offer me a better deal and see if they will increase their offer/combine the two stated. Will update when i ring.

    Update:

Rang up sky tonight saying Virgin offer me £38 for the same package and Sky HD subscription for free. Woman looked at what she could offer me and straight away after some chit chat offered me £50 credit on next bill and 25% off for 6 months. Accpeted this without hessitation.

Anyway was looking through bill and said to me that she mistakenly put through 50% off for 6 months "which is good news for you!" so didnt correct it and now i have £50 credit and 50% off for 6 months, better off than i was on my last offer!

    Amazing, thanks Sky!

    Hi everyone,

Just called Sky as 6 month, 50% discount on Sky World has ended. Spoke to customer services and cancellations but will only offer 20% reduction which would be £41.60 per month.

Guy did put me on hold for a few minutes but said only alternative they could offer was for me to reduce package.

Can't play Virgin card but did say i would contact BT as they keep hassling me to use their TV option.

Any advice please? I am sure account will be noted up with recent conversation. Should i go ahead and cancel and hope they offer something better either during call or within cancellation period?

Any benefit in me saying that i only have Sky+ for that money; will they do anything with a HD box offer?

I know that i will only get full answer if i call them but would be pleased to hear any suggestions or experiences before i go back to them!

    Thanks very much.

Already a Sky Customer and have a Sky+ box, which seems to have lost the ability to Live Pause, FF & RWD. So, its time to upgrade to Sky HD. Checking Sky's website, it'll cost me 10.25 p/m extra for HD plus a setup fee (as I have the old white Sky+ box).

I wouldn't mind taking out Broadband and Phone deal too, as I've started to get somewhat annoyed by the (lack of) reliability and poor speeds I'm getting through PlusNet.

Am I better off calling Customer Services than upgrading online, and how strong is my bargaining position in getting a free HD box with no set up fees?

Oh, and does anyone know if you lose all your recorded shows in Planner on the Sky+ box when upgrading to HD?

Not quite related to reducing whole package but you can get sky movies free for 2 months (but you need to give them 31 days notice to cancel before 2 months is up else will be charged full price after that!)
