Once again - Sky are offering a half price TV package for 8 months to NEW customers - sorry to be cynical - but what about existing / 10 year customers - why do we never get an offer ?
Because they're a business?
How often do businesses phone customers up and say "Hey, that thing you're paying for. Well we're going to give you it for half price. No reason, just cos we like you"
I'm sure there's probably a handful that do but they're not the majority. You can get a deal for being a "loyal customer" if you phone up and cancel because then you indicate to Sky you're no longer happy paying the price they ask for their service. While you continue to pay that price, why should they assume you're not happy doing so?0 -

Because that's not the way the world works unfortunately.
If you're not happy with the price, call the company and tell them otherwise they won't know. They do lots of offers for loyal customers but you need to phone to get them. Most long term customers cannot be bothered to call as, to be honest, it is stressful spending hours on the phone to save a few £'s per month but it is deliberately so, thus most people just pay the standard price.0 -
Missed a few calls from Sky having previously spoken to them and considered offers of 35% and 50% off main tv package and 25% ish off hd and multiroom. Been trying to get online chat today but it's always busy. Is it better to refresh the page or just wait when the busy signal appears? Is the best option "cancel sky" on their webpage to get to the win back team? We are being switched off next week.0

I have been on the Sky 50% off for 12 month contract.
Paying about £66 p.m for full HD multiroom (1tb box + 1 hd box) family tv package, sports , movies, bb unlimited (16mb) + line rental + weekend calls, which was ok, but now it has shot up to over £100 p.m.
Virgin have offered me a 'welcome back' package consisting of 'Big Kahuna' HD sports + movies with 2 boxes (tivo + hd ), 152mb bb, weekend calls + line rental for £82 p.m for 12 months, £97 for a further 6 months. And obvioulsly BT sport + ESPN in HD too.
Also a £50 voucher too is included.
I have now cancelled my sky package with 31 days notice, because they couldnt match it.
Do you think I should hang on before ordering Virgin to see if they will phone back for a better offer than Virgins?
thanks

Still can't get through online despite trying different browsers. Phoned and spoke to the Winback Team. They could only offer 50% off tv package with no discounts on multi screen or hd. This is worse than I was offered 2 weeks ago - offered 50% off tv package plus 35% off the multi screen and hd. Told her I'd leave it and let it cancel as planned on Wednesday.0

If you want a good deal you have to be patient and wait for Sky to contact you. Sky have to believe you are cancelling and mean it.0 -

That's what I'm thinking. I called as I was home today so thought nothing to lose. However, it's no great loss if it's switched off on Wednesday. I'll just wait and see what happens.0 -
I called to cancel my Sky tv and the experience was extremely disappointing.
I said I hoped to retain my broadband and phone and would call on Saturday to discuss matters, but asked if the call centre man would give me an indication of a possible incentive to not move to another provider.
I was told there was no chance of any offer on these and that I would only be able to get tv at full price , once its cancellation notice is processed. Offers like 50% off tv are no longer being made (despite saying my son accepted one last week) and don't believe word about any offers people on this forum claim to have been made.
Further details (to avoid repetition) are in post#5 of my thread 'Possible Sky Deal'.0 -
They are bluffing.
Did you cancel?0 -
My Sky experience.
Tried to get a deal a while ago and they didn't offer anything special so switched my phone and broadband to plusnet. With cashback etc I've ended up in profit over the 12 months with them.
I cancelled the TV via live chat once phone had finished. Got offered a couple of pounds off (original pack) but turned it down. From the time the cancellation was put in I had 'save 35%' in my account and a number of missed calls from them.
When it went off the offer in my account changed to 'come back with 50% off' so I've just been on live chat and had original reactivated at £10.75 with a 12 month contract.
I'm happy with this, I achieved what I wanted which was a half price discount. Turns out I can't manage without Sky after all:eek: - Just because I love this emoticon!0
