  • Just to update, as mentioned my TV got cut off on 29 August and today the 50% off email has arrived! Livechat is busy at the moment but hopefully I'll get TV turned back on at some point.

Personally I'm not that bothered, I've been watching some good TV over the past couple of weeks but my OH will not stop moaning about bloody discovery channel!!!!

3 months after the TV was switched off and I am still receiving 'come back for 50% off' letters.

In the past 2 weeks the phone has started ringing again with missed calls from a sky number no doubt offering me the same deals.

They are keen, I will give them that, but I have no interest in signing up again as I have not missed it since it was switched off.

Had they offered me it from the start when I called to cancel then I might have said yes but its too late now...

is it just the discovery channel? if so look at now TV entertainment package £4.99 a month and includes the discovery channel - only thing is its a streamed service so if you have a limit on your broadband its not going to work
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

I just managed to get free broadband and half price line rental for a year with Sky, via their online chat. So for 12 months it will only cost £7.70 a month. Am really pleased with that.

Just wondered what you said to them to get this ?
And which Dept were you speaking to - was it just the original team you get thru or where you transferred to a Broadband team for instance ?

I knwo I can get free broadband for 2 years with Sky , but dont want to be tied in that long, and Id ideally like to try their fibre. But keen to get a reduction on line rental be it 50% or free.

    Thanks.
  • So the deal I accepted yesterday...

Variety with Movies HD+ with Multi screen, on continuation of the 50% off for another 12 months.
Plus a visit from a sky engineer to replace a faulty box.

All of this was done via sky chat, just had to hold my ground about what I wanted and what I could afford.

Hope this is of help to people.

    Hi,

I got this deal via the Online Chat on My Sky. I just clicked on Broadband and then the Cancel option. I didn't have broadband or line rental with them, but knew this option would connect me to Retentions.

They didn't offer a discount on the line rental to begin with, but I quoted the Plus Net offer with the quidco cashback and they then offered line rental at £9.99. I said that was still too high and they then offered it for £7.70.

    Hope this helps!
  • Hi, First time doing this, so apologies for any mistakes in advance. Just had 12 months half price SKY tv come to an end and rang to cancel. Explained my situation etc and they dropped my £27 monthly bill to £7 :-D and for the next 12 months.......now to cancel my BT broadband and find a better deal, any advice welcome!

Are you sure they took 75% off and didn't offer you a 25% (£7 reduction) instead?
  • My offer came to an end, I didn't get offered anything so I straight cancelled it, and I'll wait for an offer now
  • Sky switched off August 13th and had no offers until this week. Answered the phone today and I was offered 60% off Basic package plus sports for 12 months with no contract. I said if they could offer 75% then we may have a deal. he said no 75% offers at present but they would do 60% off but free for 5 months, no contract - could kick myself but I had to leave the phone quickly and he hasnt called back but very tempted
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
    Bipolar for all
