According to my conversation with retentions, yesterday, the deals don't exist and people on her are making things up. (LOL)
I had a letter yesterday offering 60% off and £100 credit to my account :o
I`m not taking up the offer though as me, the wife and our 18 year old son are not missing sky at all, Freesat yeah baby :D
  • cancelled Sky on Monday night, got a call about a hour ago from them offering us 50% off our whole package (tv broadband and line rental) for 12 months and £100 credit to our account, with no more contract.. not too bad.. got offered 35% off at first but said not a chance.. came back with the above offer.

    That's right I'm making it up ;)

Seriously do the following and you will get the offers
    1. Cancel
    2. Let it actually cancel and go off
    3. Wait for them to ring you, NEVER EVER RING THEM

My non existent discount finishes end Nov so will be giving notice to do it all again at the end of October.

Note it is a waiting game. It may be off for up to 2 months, ours was to begin with. This is the price you have to pay for the best discounts.
  • I just rang Sky and asked for a MAC code. They were as pleasant as can be and said I didn't need one and were happy to let me go:(.

Honestly, i wouldn't even have mentioned what x/y/z on here was offered.

The advice regarding having to cancel to get the best offers is the way to go!

Plenty of excellent advice in this thread for those wishing to net a good deal.

I cancelled Sky yesterday. Was paying £93.75 pcm for Sky+ HD TV variety pack with sports + movies plus multiroom (x2). They couldn't cancel my subscription initially due to their computer system being down so I had to phone again several hours later.

How tough do they make it to cancel? :)

When I phoned for a second time, their systems were back up and running. Was asked why I wished to cancel and explained there were financial issues which I needed to address which necessitated getting rid of non-essential services pronto. I exaggerated somewhat.

I'm in no hurry at all as I'm prepared to wait for as long as it takes to get a good deal.

Discovered that I've a missed call from this afternoon... less than 24 hours since I cancelled... Caller ID was 0800 915 9081 which is Sky (I googled it)... so there could have been a discounted offer on the table already perhaps?

Quite a surprise if it is an offer because I've usually had to wait until my subscription ends and it's all switched off before they get in touch.

Never mind... good things to those who wait, eh?

You can get 50% off via vouchercodes:

    http://www.vouchercodes.co.uk/newsletter/?ei=0302160914rif&oi=2234084&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=0302160914rif&utm_content=sky.com&utm_term=0302160914rif_sky.com_2234084_newsletter&scroll=1&ud=12784689

I doubt you will be able to get any discount as a new customer 'just because' as they will only offer the new customer offers as per their site.

Thanks for the reply, I had seen the voucher code deal but do you have to have the broadband for this code to work? He don't need the broadband he has having virgin media for that, thanks

The TV is half price and you get free BB if you take the TV.

I imagine if you already have broadband then you can just take it off the package and still get the 50% off TV but you would have to call sky to ask.

I'm totally confused by what to do. I have currently been with sky for years, I have their entertainment package, unlimited broadband and talk unlimited all for £56

    Sky TV £28.00
    Sky Broadband £7.50
    Sky Talk £20.94
    Payment due on 13 Sep
    £56.44

I'm actually not worried about having the Entertainment TV package as would happily get rid of all the kids tv that consumes my tv all day!! So could drop the cost about a £5. Not worried about talk unlimited either, so could scrap the extra £5 or whatever it is each month for that. So could probably get the bill down by £10 a month. However, I would love another box for the bedroom, but don't want to pay multi room.

Virgin have sent through an offer, for their Big Kahuna package and includes another box for another room for about £6 less each month than what I'm already paying.

If possible, I'd love to avoid switching suppliers, but want everything Virgin are offering, but would still like to get the price down further if possible.

Any ideas on how to play this with Sky?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sue x
  • Never did call back so I just called them and repeated the offer of 60% off for 12 months and 5 months free, no contract (Original plus sports). They have given me 60% off with £100 credit to the account so relatively happy with that - I was missing sports too much!
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
