  • So glad I found this forum; great info and advice, thanks.

I cancelled my Sky TV on Sunday, to end next month, and told them I'll be cancelling fibre optic broadband and phone line when I instruct my new provider. Have just had a call asking me if I'd be open to offers, so have asked them to call me back tonight.

How hard ball do you play these calls? We currently have an offer on the table for TV (Original plus sports), fibre optic broadband and unlimited calls of 64 per month, which I've said doesn't come close to what I would take. Has anybody got a brilliant deal to report on this level of package? I work from home so don't want to part with fibre optic if I can avoid it.

I'm getting an idea on the TV package that I could get from the posts above, but not sure what I can push for with fibre optic and phone on top. I am willing to let the TV cancel if that is the current best advice, but would have to wait to sign up to a new provider before the official cancellation of the other services.
  • Sky goes off tomorrow. Had a letter today offering 50% off for 12 months. Not interested unless they buy me a TV licsence too!
  • I just rang Sky and asked for a MAC code. They were as pleasant as can be and said I didn't need one and were happy to let me go:(.

You need to phone the Broadband Only Cancellations department to get deals on telephone and broadband only.

The other retention departments are targeted on TV Retention so don't offer things on telephone and broadband cancel threats.
  • Hi there,

I would absolutely love some advice

I'm with BT, paying £31.45 a month for their standard tv package, infinity broadband (option 1) & line rental (up front). My contract is coming to an end in November and I'm trying to get organised to renew/switch.

I have been offered through sky £26.64 a month for their original package, line rental and broadband. Unfortunately I was called last week by the outbound sales team and got offered this price inclusive of sky sports- and said I needed to think about it. Now I can't get back in touch with them, such a rookie mistake, but they are willing to honour the same price (minus the sports package)

BT don't seem willing to come down on the price any - does the sky option seem reasonable or could it be better?

Many thanks for any help :)

It's less than half price, but will you be happy to go back to ADSL, as I'm assuming this is not a quotation for fibre ?

Honestly lisa would leave them entirely if you can afford to do so. What are you looking for exactly?
  • Thanks for your replies. The internet speed might be a concern as we would stream a lot (from Netflix), so it would need to be able to cope with this.

I rang BT this morning and turns out my broadband contract is up in January 2015, but my line rental and tv are up in November 2014. In December last year we rang to complain about the poor internet service and they offered to credit our account with 2 months free broadband. They gave us a cheaper monthly bill in January and February 2015, but at the same time essentially set us up for a new 12 month contract, starting in January, without our consent. In this rather underhand way they are trying to get us to sign up for another 12 month contact as the line rental is needed for the broadband. Am probably going to have to go through the ombudsman for this, very frustrating.
  • I've just got a basic variety pack at £25.50 (maybe on old pricing)
as i see it is £28
my phone and broadband is elsewhere and not willing to move that

out of contract, i wander what they may offer me just ringing up asking?

Been offered 60% off any package plus £100 credit to go back to Sky. That'd make the most basic package 27p per month, lol.
