I called Sky on Thursday evening to cancel Essentials package (£21.50 p/m) because we're expecting a baby, new costs and may not have time to watch TV with newborn. First was offered about 50% discount to stay, but asked for a lower offer, and was then offered 75% for 12 months. So now will be paying £5.37 per month, saving over £16 per month or £190 over the year. Very happy with this! Whole call, including waiting on hold, took just under 30 minutes.
(Good explanation of Sky revenue model from Gratis a long way back up the thread.)0 -
I currently have all 3 from Sky, my TV runs out in a couple of weeks but my broadband and phone are still in contract for a while. Just got off the phone to cancel TV and was offered very little to stay - £1.50 off the TV, free broadband and half price line rental. I was hoping for a substantial discount on TV too. TV cancellation has been requested successfully so hopefully I'll get a call soonish.
Though having read back through the thread are they less likely to offer me anything as I'm not leaving them altogether?
The broadband and line rental deal is good, if you can still have it after cancelling tv (with +£2.50 for not having tv).
Please keep us updated , as lots of us are coming to the end of the minimum term and need to act soon.0 -

Renegotiated all my Sky services over the past month. My line rental has been pegged to 9.99 per month with free unlimited broadband and I get to keep my evening and weekend call package.
Cancelled my variety tv package, got a call back and accepted 35% off with no tie in on tv contract. Finally I ordered multiroom last week to take advantage of the half price offer with hd box. When I chased no further confirmation of my order with the live online chat team they told me the order had not been processed. He offered to process it for me and as recognition for me being a customer for 5 years plus they upgraded the standard hd box to a sky hd + box and still take the half price offer. He also confirmed what many have said that new multi screen subscriptions don't require boxes to be connected to the phone line. It's all done via WiFi now.0 -
just thought I'd share this.
called sky a month ago and cancelled and got disconnected last night.
logged onto mysky today and lord and behold a 50% discount if i rejoin Sky ..... thought to myself nothing to lose so I had a chat with the online sales person and now I'm paying £30 a month as oppose to £49.50 a month, saving myself £234 over the next 12 months ...... :j0 -

hows £30 50% of £49.50Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
hows £30 50% of £49.50
It threw me as well, but thinking about it, it's possible that the OP didn't have HD before but does now. So £49.50 - 50% is £24.75, then add £5.25 for the HD pack and it makes £30.
I may not be right with that, but some people on this thread have said their HD pack isn't included in the discount they get, so that is the best assumption I can come up with!0 -
Okay , a part win has been made. I am 1 week away from my TV cancellation taking place, so went online and got put thru to the winback team. Got offered 50% off my TV (including HD) almost immediatley. So was pleased with that. Its a 12 month contract.
However, he wouldnt budge on giving any offers for line rental - saying they only give offers on TV. Didnt quite ring true, but I wanted to just take the 50% to save any stress this week, and just in case the offer wasnt given again.
I am looking at changing from standard broadband to sky fibre, so is that a way to try and negotiate any line rental offer ?0 -
this is my email confirmation, however cant seem to get anywhere with half price multiscreen. Have been trying through live chat with foreign operators.
Will maybe phone the call centre

Just called SKY to ask for deals or cancel. Been on a package costing £27 a month for phone, unlimited broadband and variety pac for 4 years, with offers on it. It has just jumped to £47. They werent interested at all - said the best they could do was reduce it to £40. I dont count a 50% increase as a good deal!
So, I've cancelled - guess I'll have to play the waiting game now. Will be interested to see if they do anything.
2 questions though.
1. Does calling just befre 8 do you no favours as the person on the phone just wants to go home and isn'tin haggling mood?
2. If my wife signs up, does she get the new customer deal...?0
