If you cancel tv, then you will lose access to recordings on your box. However, should you then take up an offer, they will still be available when you are switched back on.

    Thanks for your help 'teddysmum'.

Question number 2 is: if I cancel my TV package with Sky, is the Sky+ box fit for anything other than a receiver for Freeview? In other words, will it still have the ability to record programmes from the freebie channels?

    Sincerely, T.W.O

    In case you missed it,
"The only way you'll retain access to any of your recordings once you cancel your TV subscription is to continue paying for Sky+ recording functions at around £10 a month. However, even if you do this, any recordings from subscription channels will remain inaccessible. "

Once unsubscribed, the decoder will receive the Freesat-From-Sky channels. Playback and recording functions, however, will be completely disabled unless you pay Sky a monthly fee to retain that functionality
  • hummmm well all these offers you guys are getting I am not!

My 30 day cancellation period is due to expire on Friday. I've kept BB and telephone purely because I had so much hassle getting a good BB connection I didn't want to change.

Anyway I've heard not a peep from them! I go onto my offers on sky and it tells me I can get fibre broad band half price as a new customer, (but I already have fibre broad band!) multi room offers and introduce a new customer!

Can anyone post a screen shot of what they are looking at and where?!

My OH is giving me total earache because new series start on discovery on 1 September!!!

Since you still remain a Sky customer by only cancelling one service, the best deals are not available to you. You'll get offers to re-subcribe to Sky TV only when it's been cut off and even then it won't be any huge percentage.

As said over and over on this thread, the better deals are only offered to those who cancel everything and mean it.

This isn't the case at all in my experience. I've had several family members cancel sky tv while still on PL/BB deals and been offered 50% + £50 just shortly after the TV sub went off. I except different people are offered different things but the general point you made hasn't been the case for alot of people I know.

Hundreds of posts in this thread bear out my contention that the best deals are offered to those who cancel all services and mean it. More power to the people you know who have "bucked the trend" for whatever reason.
Clearly, there are also some customers who Sky will want to keep more than others. That will depend mostly on monthly spend and length of subscription.

I recently negotiated a 50% off for 12 months with no tie in on my TV service after cancelling only my TV package.

I could not cancel my Line Rental and BB as I was tied in until November. Currently I have free LR and BB for £7.50pm. I was also given a £75 credit last November.

As far as Sky are concerned they treat them separately apart from the discounts on BB for having other services.

Come November I will renegotiate my LR and BB.

I thought this to be the case, too.

I gave notice to cancel on Monday or Sunday, just TV, still in contract with phone and BB. Wasn't offered anything remotely good when I called to cancel - £10 line rental and £1.50 off TV.

Had the call this evening and was first offered 20% off TV, then 35%, then finally 50% with no contract (bizarre). Wouldn't do anything on the line rental or broadband (possibly as I'm already on a half price broadband deal and its still in contract) but I asked for a bill credit and was given £50!

I plan to repeat the process when my phone and BB are up for renewal next year.
