    Hi all,

After following this thread for the last month, I rang Sky today as my contract came to an end. I was paying £57 for TV (inc HD, movies and sports) and telephone and Broadband. This was due to go up to £97. I was offered the same package at a reduced rate of £78. I declined and am holding out for 50%. As someone mentioned earlier, can someone please screenshot where in MySky they see offers? As I can't seem to see anything (not sure if too soon as only cancelled today). SO NERVOUS! My hubby is unimpressed at me having cancelled everything so fingers crossed this works out :)

It doesn't appear for everyone on the My Sky page, but it's highly unlikely a 50% offer would be there already if you only gave your notice today.

Be aware though, that it's possible you may have to wait for the service to completely cancel and be cut off to get the 50% offer. If you are not willing to do this, while you may get a 50% offer in your notice period, you may have to settle for a lesser offer.

Also, if your phone and BB gets cut off, it is likely you will have to pay a cease charge as you are not moving to a different supplier. Just something to think about.

As far as Sky are concerned they treat them separately apart from the discounts on BB for having other services.
This is how I understood it to be.
  • I rang EE to ask how much notice I have to give to quit my broadband with them as I wanted to move to Talk Talk, the sales person said none and then tried to offer me a better deal as I have been with them a long time which then made me question was it worth the hassle of switching?!? I made the mistake of accepting her offer, to give me time to think, not realising it meant I was accepting a new contract of which I would have to pay to get out of. She told me that when you change provider you didn't have to inform them and that the new provider simply did this for you. So I then took Talk Talks deal thinking they would just cancel with EE, and now EE are charging me £115 to come out of the contract unless I have evidence to prove I cancelled within the cooling off period - none of which were explained to me. So whilst initially I was saving money my mistake has cost me more. Does anyone know if I have any rights to refuse to pay?!?

Thanks, yes I had seen that most people only get 50% off once they are cut off. As long as this happens relatively quickly (which from what I have read it does) and you don't lose recorded stuff from planner it should be ok.

I wasn't aware of a cease charge. Does anyone know how much that might be? Have people that have had all 3 cut off had to pay this?

    Thanks :)

I spoke to an online agent the other day . My mistake , I forgot to ask to be put thru to the win back team. The agent I spoke to was adamant that they never give credits , never discount hd , and wouldnt reduce my line rental (I did get 50% off TV from the winback team )
Does this mean you have to get thru to the winback to get any of these offers. ?

To answer another users question - dont ring just before 8pm. I did by mistake and smack on 8 oclock the guy just cut me off :(

Mine has been 24 hours and still nothing showing up there. My login screen still shows "Win one of ten great prizes including a 40" Samsung Smart 3D TV and Galaxy Tab."

Did speak to someone who was quite rude so hoping they have not put on the system to just not give me anything! :s
  • Mine goes off tomorrow and has never been there!

There are no guarantees when offers will appear in MySky (or even if they will appear at all).

Something which hasn't been mentioned for a while is that people who cancel should ensure they have ticked to allow "Household Marketing", otherwise no telephone calls or E-Mails from Sky will be forthcoming.
