Sign up with a 50% off code from MSE or anywhere else really + use quidco or topcashback. Might even be able to tack on a rec a friend voucher if you know someone with sky and get them to send you a rec code.

Hi, just to keep people informed... Been with Sky for 6 years and had a few reductions / offers in the past (had free line rental and broadband for a year once, then had 50% off for 6 months I think).

I rang Sky today with all good intentions of cancelling, we don't watch much that isn't available on Freeview and £27 for the basic package (everything except sports and movies, no HD) is a bit much. Told them this and they immediately offered 75% off for a year if I committed to a further 12 months. This takes my bill down from £27 a month to £7 a month.
  • Today I rang Sky customer services to tell them I was thinking of leaving them because BT would be installing infinity in our area sometime in the future, after answering a few questions regarding my viewing habits the adviser told me he could offer me a new 12 month subscription (exactly like my present one but named differently) for £32.50 a month as against my current £37.75 mth. He asked me about my broadband costing and then said he could also give me an extra £6.50 reduction on my package for 12 months. Then he went on to say he could also give me unlimited broadband, phone line with anytime free calls for half price for 12 months, this meant my TV, broadband and phone would cost me under £40 for the first 12 months. I agreed to the new TV package as it would save me £141 over twelve months and £63 a year after that (barring price increases). So it is worth having a go.I declined the broadband as it isn't as fast as BT:T

Maybe its relative becuase your actual saving is 'only' £20, but thats a stunning percentage.

Im still waiting for any offers , and Im just a week away from my Sky cancellation kicking in.
Tempted to blag a call to the winback team to see what they can do , as want it sorted before next weekend.

I called Sky on Thursday evening to cancel Essentials package (£21.50 p/m) because we're expecting a baby, new costs and may not have time to watch TV with newborn. First was offered about 50% discount to stay, but asked for a lower offer, and was then offered 75% for 12 months. So now will be paying £5.37 per month, saving over £16 per month or £190 over the year. Very happy with this! Whole call, including waiting on hold, took just under 30 minutes.

(Good explanation of Sky revenue model from Gratis a long way back up the thread.)

I currently have all 3 from Sky, my TV runs out in a couple of weeks but my broadband and phone are still in contract for a while. Just got off the phone to cancel TV and was offered very little to stay - £1.50 off the TV, free broadband and half price line rental. I was hoping for a substantial discount on TV too. TV cancellation has been requested successfully so hopefully I'll get a call soonish.

Though having read back through the thread are they less likely to offer me anything as I'm not leaving them altogether?
