Hello everyone,
I cancelled Sky Movies a while ago as found them to be getting quite expensive but I do miss them, especially now that winter is coming.
I called Sky to ask if they had any offers and they offered me three months half price Sky Movies and the HD premium pack for £1 for 12 months (normally just over £5 per month) . I'm unsure whether this is the best offer to take as I know Sky have offered Sky Movies HD half price for six months at times but not sure if they always discount the HD pack to £1?
I would value your views. Is it worth waiting to see if the movies come up for six months half price (are they likely to?) or take the three months with the £1 HD? Or does anybody know of any better offers? When I called Sky they were adamant that that was the best they could do.
Many thanks for your thoughts!'The journey home, is never too far...'

Cancelled Sky earlier this month due to 50% deal coming to an end.
I've had various conversations about 35% off and also this was showing on MySky page.
I was told my package (just TV) would be around £75ish now the deal has ended and bringing Fibre/Landline from Plusnet would make the deal £96. Told them on the online chat that it wasn't good enough.
They then offered me the full package (+HD) that I get now, Sky Fibre/Talk and Multiscreen for £74.90 which means my TV package is still 50% but I do have to pay for Multiscreen at full price but I got the 2TB box for £49 (free installation). I also get Fibre for £10pm for 12 months then £20 for 6 months (standard for Sky Sports subscribers)
Not bad for holding out and trying different methods of contacting them as the phone calls were always while I wasn't at home and when I rang them up they say it's most likely the "win back" team and won't be able to match their offers.
Got this deal using the online chat method.0 -

Paying them £62.40 per month for variety tv, unlimited fibre and sky talk.
BT quoting me for umlimited infinity 1, line rental and kids bolt on tv package-
£39.99 a month for the first 3 months, £46.99 a month from month 4, £48.99 a month from month 7
Think that's for 18 month contract but it also includes BT Sport 1,2 and ESPN.
Now that's cheaper even before quidco (is it really £200 at the moment??) and a £125 sainsbury voucher.
Anything i'm missing here other than the fact i've just read a lot of poor reviews about BT Infinity??
Went onto BT again and was told you can't get unlimited infinity 1 with a tv package. They have now told me you can only get infinity 2 unlimited with tv. I tried to build my own bundle and this seems to be the case as when i add the broadband to the bundle it doesn't seem to change the cost if you choose unlimited infinity 1 but it does change the cost if you choose the 20gb cap option??0 -
I cancelled nearly 2weeks ago via online chat. The woman offered me about 25% off which I declined. Strangely there was no record on my account of this - but I have the email print to prove it. But , Ive not had one call to try and make me stay. Just 2 emails reminding me what Im going to miss.
Ive been with Sky nearly 20 years - does make my blood boil how they have thrown 50-75% off at some , yet long term customers seem to often get much smaller.
Maybe they fathom that the longer youve been with them the less chance of really cancelling.0 -

1/2 price movies for 3 months isn't a good deal when most on here have ended up with 1/2 price for 12 months for the whole TV package. You have to cancel sky and wait for either a phone call during your 31 days notice or check ur mysky offers shortly after it goes off. Most report the 50% off is there once the tv goes off.
Sky gave me the £1 PM HD offer also and its a nice bonus but you can 100% do better than 3 months 1/2 price movies. When you cancel just stick to ur guns as they will say almost anything to get you to change ur mind other then give you 50% off during that first call.0 -
My 50% for 12 months has come to an end. I called up Sky to cancel and was offered absolutely nothing to make me stay. They suggested I cancel the movies package in order to make a saving. Anyway, I didn't go for that and went ahead with the cancellation. Should I expect a call offering me another 50% offer or do they not do this back to back? What is the best offer I am likely to get?
EDIT: I have checked My Sky and they are offering me 35% off for 12 months if I stay with Sky. This is immediately after cancelling (I cancelled yesterday). I suppose the better offers are still to come?0 -

Fairly likely that you will get another 50% off but you may need to wait longer, if necessary till after they cut you off.0 -

Not necessarily. I cancelled 2 weeks ago and only got 35% off deal through MySky and phone calls to them. They kept trying to get hold of me (their "win back" team) but I was never in. I used the online chat today for the first time, was told they could do a deal at £96 but I said no. They asked what I was after and told them exactly what I WAS paying and they pretty much matched it (50%). It's about trying all methods of contact with them.0 -

It is weird as I've been on the live chat twice and they have told me that they cannot do any deals and that I should call them up to snap up the 35% off deal (well of course they would say that).
To be honest I am tempted to deal at 35%, but mainly because I want to watch SummerSlam on Sunday on Sky Sports Box Office, and I can't order it because my account is in cancellation mode. But I know by hanging on I will get a better discount, eventually.0 -

I've always been honest with them, I told them that cost is the main reason for cancelling and told them I'd have no problem cancelling. Seems to do the trick as some money is better than no money at all and going with a potential competitor.0
