My cancellation went through today and sure enough there is a 50% off offer waiting on my account. No phone calls or letters though while in the cancellation period. By switching to BT Ive got 90 times faster internet and am saving £50 a month so not too bothered about Sky but if they made the TV a really good deal then I might be tempted, if only to shut the kids up moaning about a lack of Disney Channel and music channels!I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

Well I got my phone call today and they asked me what I wanted I told them 50% off for 12 months again and the gave me the deal. This is only two days after putting my cancellation in! Also means I won't miss SummerSlam. Good work.0

I don't know how people got such good deals - did you spend a lot on Box Office / Sky Store or something because they simply do not seem bothered to "win-back" or prior to that "retain" me.0

Am paying £106 atm and have pretty much the lot bar ESPN and BT sport. Have always had some sort of discount so asked for another. Was told nothing available so have started cancellation proceedings, initially for the TV, and have told them that once fibre is in our area, I'll move the phone and bb (all unlimited).
At first this was with renegotiation in mind, but as it sinks in that I could save maybe £70+, I'm tempted to get a Humax Freesat pvr and sack off the pay TV for a while...
At least it puts me in a strong bargaining position I guess...
To update on this 6 months down the line. I went through the cancellation for my Sky TV and bought a Freesat PVR. We are now weaned off Sky and despite the weekly cards in the post offering 50% off, we are quite happy sticking with what we have.
Biggest saving to be made with Sky TV is to ditch it altogether... :TI don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -

I think the 50% off is available to pretty much everyone who had their sky TV switched of recently. Either they offer it to you through calls, letters in the post, messages on mysky or you calling up and asking for it to come back(claiming you got it in the post even if you haven't).
Once you have all the equipment in place it costs sky very little to send you a sat signal which is why they offer people these deals in the first place. Its helps their bottom line + keeps subscriber numbers up. If you don't ask then you don't get and sky know most won't ask. You may have to push a little more these days to get what you want but the deals are still there.0 -

Dont you just hate some lucky posters :rotfl:
There does seem to be a cloud of mystery who /how some get offers , whilst others dont . Im paying nearly £90, have been with Sky 20 years, yet not had a call after 2 weeks of cancelling. Maybe just random.0 -
I cancelled Sky TV on Monday - with the September price rise the total was going up to £81.50. Just too expensive. They did try to get me to stay with a rather curious offer: £11.64 off with a £60 voucher for the year, so £16.64 (~20%) in total. Poor show I thought so went ahead and gave the 31 day notice.
Will now kill off Sky Broadband as well which will leave me free of them with a thicker wallet.
Those of you getting 50% off for 12 months are doing very well!0 -
I meant to ask. I have set my TV cancellation in play, but is there a way of getting any reduction on the line rental meantime ?
I cant afford to lose my broadband for the next 3 weeks, so darent 'cancel' that. Ultimately I may go for the sky fibre if can get an offer. But Id like to see if can get at least half price line rental meantime.0 -

Ah - my BB and phone is with them too as well as TV. Currently pay £57 for everything inc sports and movies, which is going up to £98. If I ring to cancel do the phone and BB cancel immediately? Should I specify that I only want to cancel TV? Although I want (ideally) 50% on the entire package not just TV but don't want to risk the phone and BB being cut off.
Thanks0 -
Each component - TV, Phone, BB - has a 31 day notice period. You can give your notice on whichever ones you want (obviously if you cancel the phone then the BB will go as well).0
