1/2 price movies for 3 months isn't a good deal when most on here have ended up with 1/2 price for 12 months for the whole TV package. You have to cancel sky and wait for either a phone call during your 31 days notice or check ur mysky offers shortly after it goes off. Most report the 50% off is there once the tv goes off.

Sky gave me the £1 PM HD offer also and its a nice bonus but you can 100% do better than 3 months 1/2 price movies. When you cancel just stick to ur guns as they will say almost anything to get you to change ur mind other then give you 50% off during that first call.

Thank you for replying Captain89. I was tied into a 12 month contract with Sky Talk so can't really cancel the Sky TV (and I would actually miss it). However, I did have one last attempt and was offered a £7.50 discount per month for 12 months if I committed to a new 12 month contract with Sky Talk - I think I just have 50% off line rental for 12 months. However, technically this works out as the same as half price Sky Movies for 12 months. I also got the HD pack added for £1 for 12 months so happy with that. I was expecting 3 months of half price movies, pushed for six and ended up with twelve!

Glad you got what you wanted. The PL and TV should be on seperate contracts so you might not have been contracted to the TV even if you were with the PL. You wouldn't be without sky for long. Maybe just a few weeks max but it usually doesn't come to that.

If I have to wait the full 31 days to hopefully get a 50% discount on my sky account, how quickly is the Sky TV rectified if I take the offer up straight away ?

I asked the online chat can i be put thru to retentions and was told no - is that true ?

I do think I have more chance of getting a bigger discount when speaking to someone in person anyway. But Id like to get this sorted before the 31 day wait.

    Thanks.

When you get cut off - do you lose everything recorded on your sky+ box? I spoke to someone very rude the other day when telling them my package was too expensive for me to continue with them. SO I didn't bother negotiating much with them so will try again this week.

Sky TV will be switched back on almost immediately. You can't really ask to speak to the retentions team. You have to actually cancel then you will be put through to them.
  • Not checked this thread in a long time and it's still the same old complaints. Just because you have given notice don't expect them to ring with mega offers, they won't.

You only get the great offers when you actually leave. It gets turned off and you are without sky for a while.

In our cases it was off for 2 months and then we got it all totally free for 11 months (4 monthly block rolled over twice), then when that finished we cancelled again, it was off for 2 weeks and then we got everything for 75% which runs out in December.

We will give notice and start the ball rolling again in November. Sky will go off and then at some point in the future they will ring with a deal.

However it's when it's off you actually realise you can live without it, so even if they don't ring back there is no way I would ever take sky at full price again.

The thread is so repetitive because nobody seems to read any of the earlier responses prior to posting. I guess the hugeness of the thread can be intimidating, but even reading only two or three pages back will provide most of the answers.

Anyway, since only you and I will take heed of this, it's now time to return to the same old repetition!

We should have our own thread :D

I tell you what was funny with my current 75% off though, when I was in the cancellation period they did ring me and got close to 50% off at the time. I told them it wasn't enough and the max I would spend is £30 for it all. They couldn't do that so I said just cancel.

Roll forward another week, and retention's ring and offer it all for £22 a month for 12 months. So they do themselves out of £8 a month.

    Go Figure :rotfl:
