Cancellation has been effective for 4 days ie no sky anymore. No offers. No calls, emails or letters. Saves me £40 a month I suppose!!

I do wonder how they decide who to target the 50% off banner on my sky. Our sky tv finished on Thursday (having had the 35% off call during the cancellation period) and I had a look over the weekend. Get the 'Unable to proceed' when I check my offers and on the my sky homepage it's an advert for their Broadband Shield - not a discount offer in sight.

I've obviously done something to upset them.

ive got that as well, been without sky for over a week and have not missed it.

awaiting the offer to hit my mat, wont be coming back for less than 50 per cent and a 50 quid credit.

nb, i have had 50 per cent deals for the last 4 years.

And you feel that you are entitled to that because?

    Not entitled to anything mate.

However we live in a free market, they offer my what i want and i will take it, they dont and i wont.

People who want to pay full whack and be ripped off is entirely their perogative.

    It is that simple.

Just rang Sky to go through to retentions/cancellations department only to be told that they have finished at 8pm and to ring back in the morning!

I have to agree with you entirely Marco806. Hold out for the best deal you can. Your not demanding anything. If they ring you up and make you an offer you like, take it. If you don't, don't take it! Simples!

Sky know the game. The majority don't play it and pay a heck of a lot of money for something you can easily do without.

I cancelled after having a 50% off deal for the last twelve months. The day after my sky TV was cut off, the 50% off deal was on the table straight away. Didn't like it. Two days later a 60% off deal was on the table. I liked it, I took it. Simples! At no point did I ring sky other than to cancel, they rang me and when they did i was polite to the person I was speaking to and I demanded nothing.

Sky offered me free broadband when I tried to cancelled my broadband back in april this year out of contract because I was moving house.

I noticed on my bill that they had been charging the £7.50+£2.50 extra so instead of £15.40 for only the rental for 12 month's, £25.40. I just spoke to customer service and they said that the offer was applied but not valid because I had no TV. However when I spoke to them back in april I didn't have TV then and it was only the broadband, which was confirmed would remain the same and I would have clearly only have the broadband+phone / no TV.

How do I stand about this, as I signed up to someone else back in april and cancelled them to continue with sky. Very false because they offered me something and now I can't change it because they said it was an error by the staff member.

Last year in June I gave my 31 days notice to cancel my tv package because of the cost and the fact that I had an old style Sky+ box so was unable to benefit from "on demand", etc. Two days after cancelling I received a call from retentions initially offering 10% discount which I declined. I was then offered 25% off my tv package for 12 months (which includes sports & movies) plus a free 2TB HD Sky+ box, which I was happy to accept.

This year I rang Sky again and gave 31 days notice to cancel the tv package. Three days after giving my notice I received a call from retentions and was offered a 35% reduction for 12 months which I politely declined. I was then offered 50% off the tv package for 12 months which I accepted. I am tied in for another 12 months but that doesn't bother me if I'm getting a 50% reduction on my package. I have been a Sky customer for 15 years. Hope this helps someone else get a decent discount.

Hi, just to say that i have the full sky package and that I've been offered similar deals over a similar timeframe to EileenH other than I've not had the 50% yet. I'm halfway into my notice period and I'm willing to be without sky for a few days to get the 50% off for a year.

I've also taken the ee broadband offer in the meantime so sky know that I'm prepared to move.

I've had the discount deals for the last 3 years and Sky are getting cuter each year. The first year it was 'I'm moving to virgin" and I immediately got the 50% off. Now it's having to go through cancellations and probably lose the service altogether for a few days to get the same deal.

It's in Sky's interest to offer these discounts as they can offer differential pricing based on what customers are are prepared to pay. It costs them very little to supply each additional household, their costs are in purchasing the rights for the Premier League etc. So each customer they have adds to their profitability.

However, Sky want to ensure that only those customers who won't pay more get this pricing and hence why it's getting much more difficult. Only those who are wiling to be without Sky for a few days/weeks will get the best deals

    Hi all,

I was with NTLworld (remember them) and the Virgin for many years. I went onto Sky a few years ago and to be honest, this is the best thing that I have done if you watch SkySports or SkyMovies. For info, I only watch SkySports.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I am now on my second year watching SkySports for a 50% reduction. Before that, I used to watch SkySports via other means. I also had massive cash back before the two years, which was due to Sky incompetance; so overall I have done well out of Sky.

What am I saying ? If you watch Skysports or Skymovies, I suggest that you go to Sky to get the best deals. There is no way that BT or TalkTalk can compete as they are unable to offer deals for either of these packages !

By the way, I can also add BT and ESPN Sports for £5.99 a month as I am with Plusnet for B/band and phone.

In all, I pay just less than £35 per month for Sky Sports, Sky Entertainment, Phone line rental, Free evening/weekend calls and unlimited b/band.

    HTHs.
