I just called Sky to query the price of the individual components of our package. We have every possible option including phone and broadband other than HD Movies and Sports and the bill was creeping near the £100 per month mark with the imminent September price increase.

I hardly said anything and the advisor immediately offered me 35% off TV for year and advised me to call back in a few days to have our line rental discounted as she could only apply one offer at a time. Not bad at all!

Phoned Sky and stated I was struggling with bills etc and that I had to cut back on non essentials... my recent 'discount' had just come to an end in the last month... Upshot was that I got my basic tv package cost down from £21.50 to £10.00 for the next 12 months, not bad.

When this deal ends they need to keep me on that £11.50 discount...

    Give it a go! ;0)

  • When would be the best time to phone? Should I wait until a few days before I have to give notice, or phone before then?

Only call them if you are prepared to cancel then and there.

I am thinking of dropping the Tv & Phone from Virgin and just keeping the broadband.

What I want is Sky sports and I know Virgin will charge me a lot for it. I have had a price off Sky for £43.50 per month for Tv & Sky sports.

I've just read about the Sky Sports season ticket from Virgin for £150. I also know you have you have to have the Big Kahuna or Big Bundle to get it.

I'm going to ring Virgin and tell them to drop the TV and Phone and ask about the Sky sports season ticket and see what they say.

But how will you be able to get the sports season ticket if you no longer have their TV?

My Sky paid for channels went off this afternoon. I rang a month ago as previous offer ended.. Was offered 25% on the phone which I refused.. A few days later they rang with a 35% offer which I refused.. Was told it was a once only offer and wouldn't get it again!told them to carry on with the cancellation.
Logged onto Mysky tonight and there was the 50% . Went to online chat and ended up with 60% he also told me not to get multiscreen back yet as that can't be part of the offer but to wait til I get offered another deal like I had last year which was £2.50.
Time your cancellation right though .. My OH missed the Grand Prix as it went off just before... Oops lol .
 Am thinking of a new one:beer:
  • If you cancel Sky and a month later the cancencellation is carried out - then you sign up again as you get the 50% off - are you able to get access to everything you had already saved on your sky box?
I know whilst it is cancelled you can't but I was hoping when it is reconnected you get everything back?

Yes, the entitlement to the sky+ recordings is returned when you resubscribe. They remain on the box when its cancelled but access to them is removed.

Yes providing you keep the same package. If you had recorded a movie and then cancelled the movie, you would not be able to view it.
