There is currently 1/2 price multi room offer available to pretty much everyone who doesn't have MR so cancel that for sure and just reup in a month at 1/2 the current cost.
You can't simply cancel and then re-subscribe in order to take advantage of such deals! It's possible Sky might offer the equivalent as part of a retention deal though.
  • It was only a few days ago that I used web chat and was told that they didn't deal with cancellations.

To be honest I don't think they will offer me a decent deal because I don't subscribe to big packages.

You need to be disconnected for 12 months before you are considered a 'new' customer and can get the new customer deals.

50% of a small amount is still 50% off!
Sky want to keep as many customers as possible, but I do agree that the more you currently pay the more you stand to save if offered a deal.

Has anyone tried to bluff their way into a deal via Sky Live Chat after cancelling?

To bluff means to pretend, but you can't pretend to be about to cancel, if you have actually cancelled.

I've done this in the past and it worked fine. I was a SS subscriber and they started doing free BB to new sky sports subs so I cancelled my ss,waited a few days after it went off and sub again. I was given the free BB deal without any problems. This was over a year ago so things might not be so easy now. I can how why they would have that timescale in place to prevent others doing what I did.

Well the lady who was meant to call me back didn't so I called back Sky yesterday.

I said that I hadn't received a call back and was disappointed. She asked if I still wanted to cancel and I said I did. She asked why and I explained cost. She sounded surprised when I said that the offers I'd been offered last week weren't that great as even when the offer period with BT had run out they were still cheaper than Sky for what we needed.

She then just simply put through my cancellation request. I'm not bothered about going without Sky TV but I am about letting my internet lapse in 30 days!

So I'll give it a week, if I've heard nothing about any decent offers then I'll get things moving with BT. Can't be without internet in my house!!! :rotfl:

I was told exactly the same thing about a week ago. But if you read the excellent post by pen1 , their own rules state you can cancel. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/66081166#Comment_66081166

It just shows how blatantly Sky employees will sometimes not tell the truth. Ive had it in the past and will stand by that statement. I understand they may be under pressure to do so.

What I dont get tho is if you cancel online, do they put you thru to the disconnections team online, as they sometimes offer you a deal to stop ?
Im making the prediction that my connection somehow drops before I cancel (conspiracy theorist ) !

Cancelled 3 weeks ago and not received any phone call from Sky with offers.

Should I wait it out or try and bluff that I got call that I received an offer?
