Was just chatting to the cancellation team , when i got cut off. Expected a callback straight away . Then realised why it went dead - it was 8pm. Home time.0

I think I have screwed up my chances of getting a TV deal from Sky. I stupidly contacted them completely unprepared. I had browsed the net looking for offers and had totally miscalculated the offers compared to Sky.
They had me over a barrel and pointed out my miscalculations lol.
I did get offered free broadband and the usual line rental cost. However, had I gone better prepared, I might have got a decent TV, Broadband and Phone package.0 -

As others have said "if you don't like it - don't buy it!"
Wouldn't be the 1st time I have phoned up looking for 1/2 price sports & not got anything.
Called a different operator later the same day & got exactly what I wanted no problem.0 -

Then on top of this I pay the annual line rental saver for £120, and I just had a letter through the door to tell me my Sky Sports costs will be going up by £2 per month. So in total per month it works out at £89.
I just called them up now, told him it was too expensive and asked if there were any deals. He said they could upgrade my TV deal to XL which includes BT Sport for free, and downgrade my internet from 100MB to 50MB (he checked my usage statistics and I don't come close to needing the 100MB speed), he said that would work out at £62.50 per month.
Still got the line rental on top of that, not sure whether I will still need to pay the £2 increase for Sky Sports but either way I'm looking at around a £15 per month saving for just a 10 minute call. I'm sure I could've got a better deal if I'd gone through with the whole cancellation thing but decided I don't really have the time or resolve to do that.
Pretty satisfied anyway!
It may be because it's a new customer deal but I got Mates rate by going out and talking to a Virgin Service engineer when I noticed his van parked out in front of the neighbors house.
I got the big Kahuna bundle:
XL TV
XL BB with speeds of up to 152MB
Medium phone all for £51.98 for 18 months and this deal will not increase so I'm told...0 -
I had reason to call Sky last night as my broadband was playing up. When I was originally given a retention deal I was told free broadband and £9.99 line rental. It is actually 12 months free broadband and 6 months free line rental. I was pleasantly surprised. She also gave me a £25 credit for my trouble0

Do you usually get offered a better deal the closer you are to handing in your notice?
I have to hand my notice in by the 4th August.0 -

Don't think it matters. All that really matters is that they believe you will leave.0 -

No, you usually get a better deal once you have cancelled and the service is switched off.
If you haven't even given them your cancellation notice, they don't have any incentive to make it cheaper for you as you're not leaving.0 -
