Well, I've just got my EE router set up, and my phone line is working, so I've voted with my feet.0

After months of looking on here, I finally cancelled my sky subscription. I thought I was paying £89 per month but the increase would take it to £93! (I have the full package and 2 multi rooms).
The best they could offer was to remove a multiroom which I dont use much and reduce by £15 making the total £66 per month. (18% discount). I have cancelled from today so lets see what happens.
Now to break it to the family!!
Forgot to add, I was on the phone for an hour and half going through the cancellation process !
Success. I received a call asking if there was any way they could keep me as a customer. I again stated that the cost was too high and, after a relatively short discussion, was offered 35% off. Still too high so was given 50% for 12 months with no contract. Perfect. I dont mind paying for something we really do use. The investment in sport and some of the recent sky produced shows should be applauded but there comes a tipping point where the value to cost is reached.
To make it even better, my daughter came home with a glowing school report so I told her that, as her report was so good, we will keep sky for another year.0 -
I have had two or three 'come back to sky for 50% off' letters land on the mat since I cancelled a month and a bit ago.
They have gone in the bin though as I am not missing it and I am sure there will be more over the next few months..0 -
So who made this FB offer to you? I suspect that I may have spoken to an Indian representative. Accent strong and line poor. Couldn't hear her properly. Came away frustrated. Surely they must know that apparent threats to cancel are often not genuine ?
Sorry I didn't get back to you on this. I have no idea now who I spoke with on FB, just posted on their timeline complaining about how we were paying so much more than new customers and we were thinking about doing to Sky. It then went to PM but I can't even find that!
Quite funny, they pointed out that if we had problems with cabling with Sky we would have to have their engineer out to fix it at an extortionate cost. We in turn pointed out that we are telecoms engineersWe can sort out that sort of thing in our sleep
Took a bit of to-ing and fro-ing but we got an offer we liked, far better than dealing with it by phoneWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Does anyone know how long they keep trying to entice you back for? I'm going to cancel soon and go onto Now TV but I'll probably want to go back for the start of the cricket season next May. Will they still be begging me to come back by then or will they have given up? - Just because I love this emoticon!0

I've just honed Sky to try to get a better deal. I've been with them for 14 years and have the Variety, Movies and Sky Go + and have only been offered half price movies for 3 months
I asked about the 25% off all bundles and the man said that was only open to new customers.
I tried to charm and humour him, but he didn't budge.
I asked if I upgraded to the Family Sky+ HD package would I get the 25% discount as it is a new package, the answer was a firm 'no'.
any suggestions on what I can do?
Thanks0 -
