So is the assumption that you only get the 50% if the 30 day cancellation goes thru ? They dont offer it before at any point ?
It's definitely more unlikely that you would get the 50% offer before it goes through but not impossible. I recently got it about half way through my cancellation period.0 -
With regards to logging into mysky after the disconnection has taken place, what is the 50% off? I have Original, Sports and HD with phone and internet - is it 50% off the lot or 50% off the TV components?
The 50% offer usually is for the TV, although I have seen them playing hardball over not giving it on the HD package or multiroom package.
Phone/BB offers tend to be different and often negotiated separately. I've seen free LR or free BB and some with a mix - ie reduced LR and free BB.
One thing you will need to be careful with is a reconnection charge for the phone and quite possibly a cease charge on the BB if you don't have something lese to go to.I'm just wondering as I'm tempted to go with the EE broadband offer (£2.50p/m, £11p/m line rental up front and £136 TCB cashback), but would that affect 'rejoining' sky for the TV only? Ie: Would they want me to return with everything to get the 50% discount?
I would phone them up now, ask for your MAC (even though they say it's not needed) as you want to go to EE and quote the offer. See if they will offer you anything on the LR/BB with Sky and let your TV cancellation go through unless they give you the 50% off. I'm fairly sure the TV offer will come through after cancellation although it could be right away or a bit later.0 -

Thanks, I've already asked for a MAC code and they said it's not needed as it's on the sky network and under cancellation mode...
One thing I'm confused by is the reconnection charge/cease charge...I don't follow, sorry.0 -
Sky chat has given me this number - 03332 02 21 35, anyone else tried this one? I was given it as my current offer has just ended3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0

Cheers for that Jem. My dilema is if I start the 30 day cancellation now, but dont get the offer near by about the 14th, Im going to cancel the cancellation - then have to start it again.
Otherwise I wait a week or so and then ring them. Cursing not done this earlier, but so much going on in the Benn household right now.0 -

If your line is disconnected, Sky will probably charge you for reconnecting it as Openreach will do the work.
The cease charge comes about on ceasing BB but not going elsewhere hence the usual requirement for a Mac.
This might help;Simultaneous Provide
Leaving a fully unbundled service such as Sky or TalkTalk, requires you to co-ordinate the provision of a new telephone line rental and broadband service.
The cost for the new telephone line rental service can be as high as £125, but many providers of line rental have offers running, or you can sign up for a longer term which reduces the cost considerably.
The method you are using is known as a Linked Order Process, and relies upon the new provider(s) placing a provision order for the telephone line rental and then giving you the customer a Linked Order Reference Number (LORN) which can then be passed to your chosen broadband provider. It is then used internally by Openreach to link the two orders together.
The use of a LORN overcomes the presence of tags, which result in a broadband order being rejected, and then a lengthy wait for the Openreach databases to update to reflect the true provider of the telephone line rental. This is why some people have a gap of a week or more when leaving companies like Sky and TalkTalk.
In some cases the actual move of the telephone service can happen early, and if this happens even when a LORN was assigned to the orders, Openreach should then provide the broadband service within 5 working days.0 -
So, what you're saying is that rather than letting the broadband and phone lapse and then either resigning with sky or setting up another account in a week or two, I would be better to sign up with a new provider now...?0

For phone/BB I wouldn't let it just cancel. Phone up Sky tell them about the EE deal and just ask if there's any offers before you put it through.
Either that or go ahead with the new provider.0 -
I got a great deal with Sky last year for Family bundle, phone & broadband and inclusive calls. Earlier in the month they started increasing the price. I tried haggling and they would not match last year's deal but were increasing it from £33.20 to something over £46 as the best they could offer.
Humax 500 GB Freesat box (WHICH? best buy) £176ish after finding best price and getting Quidco cashback, plus Nectar points for using Nectar Amex through Paypal. Got the EE £162 phone/broadband deal (then £120 Amazon voucher) for a 12 month contract (Finishes Saturday). I'll just have to use my inclusive calls on the mobile to let SWMBO ring our daughters during the week.
ByeBye Sky.The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Only way to get better would be to cancel.Humax 500 GB Freesat box (WHICH? best buy) £176ish
Yes I've just bought that too for £135 delivered from Humax Direct. Their Manager's Specials are great deals. Using that to replace my multiroom box but kept the main sub at half price.0
