    Done it !

After months of looking on here, I finally cancelled my sky subscription. I thought I was paying £89 per month but the increase would take it to £93! (I have the full package and 2 multi rooms).

The best they could offer was to remove a multiroom which I dont use much and reduce by £15 making the total £66 per month. (18% discount). I have cancelled from today so lets see what happens.

Now to break it to the family!!

Forgot to add, I was on the phone for an hour and half going through the cancellation process !

The Big Kahoona is available on Virgin's website, where the price is £25 + line rental (ie £40.99) for 6 months , then £45 +line rental (ie £60.99). An average of £50.99 over the year, making £50 not much of a 'mate's rate'.

Yeah but they are 18 month contracts so you'd be paying £60.99 for 12 months!

I think the saving over the full 18 months works out at about £60 less on the mates rate over the full contract. Not a great saving but still better than the current 50% for 6 months. Not bad I'd say.

Additionally we're talking about speeds of 152mb and I get BT sports already included which is a biggy for me as a UFC fan.

Sky would have to offer me the variety TV bundle and Fibre brodband for £38 for 18 months to get that as I'd still have to add £12 for BT Sports.

Sky aren't going to get anywhere close to that deal.

The only disappointment will be that I will no longer have access to the BT sport app. Meaning the Chromecast support would be redundant.

Yes but you could get £115.50 cashback if ordering online through Topcashback.

A few posts ago you were saying that £35pm was your top amount. You seem to have jumped up a bit.

Topcashback. Oh !!!!!! another good deal to check out. Thanks Jem..

That was based on originally getting BT Sport for the additional £12. But yeah i've stretched the budget again to get the fast broadband.

Probably end up divorced after all this but hey ho.

Just checked Quidco. They're offering £220 for the Big Kahuna - expires in a day apparently.

You have to remember of course that cashback is not guaranteed. Suggest you read the reviews before deciding on going the cashback route or not.

So i just agreed to going back to sky - accepted 50% off and £50 credit on my bill for the full package which is now costing me £36pm plus £15pm for phone and BB. Overall approx half what i was paying before i cancelled 6 weeks ago.
I was offered and accepted a 60% discount on the live chat however this was retracted after he realised i already had phone and BB with them - when i did the calcs i'm approx £20 worse off over the course of a year so i didn't force the issue

Cant believe Ive let this drag on but hey ho. Spent more important time fighting my Anxiety.

Anyway , I was going to ring back to cancel today but m now worried about the timing of this, as in 31 days the first Prem game is on SKy and I dont want to lose my SKy tv then . What are the chances of getting an 50% offer without actually disconnecting ?

If none, how quickly does the TV package reconnect ?

    Thanks guys.

It will come on almost str away when u reconnect. People have said that a 50% offer comes on their mysky offers page withing a few hours of it going off but there are no guarantees. You can also call them after its off and claim you had an e-mail/offer and hope they give in to your demands. I called 3 days after mine went off and got what I wanted.

Cheers Captain. Ive really dropped a clanger here , as dont want to lose my Sky that weekend for various reasons.

So is the assumption that you only get the 50% if the 30 day cancellation goes thru ? They dont offer it before at any point ?

    Hi guys,

I have 5 days to go until my TV, phone and internet is disconnected. I've had no further phonecalls or offers since last I commented on here.

With regards to logging into mysky after the disconnection has taken place, what is the 50% off? I have Original, Sports and HD with phone and internet - is it 50% off the lot or 50% off the TV components?

I'm just wondering as I'm tempted to go with the EE broadband offer (£2.50p/m, £11p/m line rental up front and £136 TCB cashback), but would that affect 'rejoining' sky for the TV only? Ie: Would they want me to return with everything to get the 50% discount?
