    Offered during sky chat:

    Sky Original TV package,
    Fibre broadband
    Line rental
    £100 vouchers

    Total £38.80 first 6 months and £48.80 thereafter.

    Not sure if I'll take it or not. It's more than I can afford to pay. My budget is £35 but perhaps that is a good deal?

    I thought you had declined that earlier as you would then have the cost of BT Sport to add on. They've now given you £100 vouchers but nothing else has changed?

    Just looking at the prices;

    Original TV = £21
    Line Rental = £15.40
    Fibre BB = £10 for first 6 months rising to £20.

    Total = £46.40 then £56.40.

    So they're giving you a £7.60 discount each month? Doesn't seem like good value to me even with the vouchers.

    Yeah I've given up on BT Sports. Just can't afford to keep it along with having Fibre and a reasonably entertaining TV package.

    I wasn't sure if it was good or not.

    If they completely disconnect me after the 30 day cancellation period ends, on 2nd of August, and IF I receive a 50% off deal to come back through My Sky as other posters have received, will I still need to pay BT a reconnection for line rental if I chose to stay with Sky?

    Do you mean will Sky charge you?

    No, probably not.

    No, probably not.

    Post number 5960 suggests the charge comes from BT when your phone line is disconnected:

    "The reconnection fee is for the phoneline not the TV -its the charge raised by BT Openreach to reconnect you to the Sky equipment in the BT exchange."

    I don't want to leave Sky, be disconnected then have to pay a £100 odd charge to be reconnected.

    This may very well happen. There would also be a cease charge on the BB of £30 if you don't take up another Bb service.

    Have you tried phoning Sky with details of a phone and BB deal that you wish to take up and ask for your MAC? You will probably get told you don't need a MAC to move from their service but just say you want it so you are not charged for ceasing the service. It might just push them into sorting out a deal with your BB and phone. You can sort them out separately as others have done.

    Sky just flat refused to give a MAC code - said it would be a seamless transfer due to who owns my 'exchange' as I have a Sky line now.....I guess it depends on location from the sounds of things, holding out until the 30 day TV Canx period is over anyway to see if they will offer a reduced line rental, since we'd stick with sky sports we'd get free bb for 24 months anyway with that......if offer is still on in 2 weeks!

    I assumed that getting a full telephone, TV and line rental from a single provider like Sky would create more offers than if you had only bb and line rental?

    So would I but they haven't been that forthcoming, Ive had what seems the standard offer of 35% off a few days after cancelling but even that with the free BB for Sports subscribers isn't what we were hoping for.....Im hoping the end of the canx period will bring the 50% and perhaps even a credit ...that's the experience of some posters here, although obviously nothing is guaranteed, probably just my luck that they'll not bother with us!!

    Yes I said they would probably say it isn't needed but my point was that it shows you are intending on taking your Line Rental and BB elsewhere and that you have compared prices.

    From a TV point of view with Sky it makes no difference. It's their BB where the better price comes in. £15pm with no TV and no LR. £12.50pm if no Sky Talk, £7.50pm if you have both TV and Sky Talk.

    The 50% offers seem to apply only to the TV - I've never seen that with LR and BB.

    Usual offers for LR and BB can be either free LR but paying BB or paying £9.99 for LR and free BB.

    So if you can negotiate LR/BB separate from the TV negotiation you can sometimes be in a better position as you can probably then allow the TV to be switched off without it affecting the BB/LR.
