If you're willing to upgrade to the family pack then you would get a new free HD box as you've never had one before. Least thats what it says on the website. I managed to get a new 2TB box from them for £49 by taking the family pack even though I already had a Sky+ HD box so give them a call if your willing to do that as they'll have to comply with their own terms.
Thank you so much for this info! Got the family pack plus sports for £27 month for 12 months with a free Sky+HD box. I had the online conversation emailed to me just in case there are any issues but i've checked online and everything showing as correct. Happy with the result!0 -
You missed thewith which my posting commenced. (It was a clue.)
Nevertheless, and as others have found to their considerable cost, it’s better to be safe than very expensively sorry on this one – and, having, myself, received from Sky the very same letter and Terms as pen1, I feel it’s a wise Golden Rule to which to adhere. The words “Discount does not apply if you change your package” are unequivocal; there’s no wriggle-room in them.
What marco806 should, of course, have written was that he considered my rule to be incorrect, not that it was “untrue”. I felt he deserved a bark. Truth and accuracy are different things.
But one is dealing with somebody who has made (so far) 12 postings, not one of which has anyone thought merited a “Thanks”, and who thinks he is receiving Sky TV without being in a contract with Sky.
the only contractual obligation i have with sky is to give them 31 days notice when i want to end my current viewing choices.
so, yes your right, i do have a contract, a contract that suits me perfectly. much prefer 31 days to 1 year.
and when i get my next discount it will be on those terms.0 -
Hi,
Just took up another sky offer after threatening to cancel.
I'm currently on the full monty. Had a discount for a year and a half, which meant I was paying between £50-60 for HD sport and movies plus talk and broadband. However, after the offers expired this jumped to around £90!!!!
My girlfriend has a mate who works for sky and she gave us a half price TV deal but we found out we couldn't use it as it was for new customers only.
I called up sky and they gave me free broadband (-£7.50) and half price on TV for 3 months. He did some calculations and it brought my bill down to £46.24 a month.
However, this is only for 3 months as the TV deal then runs out (I've committed to a two year contract on the broadband).
He said I could ring up in October to negotiate another deal.
My question is: in October could I theoretically cancel the TV package and get my girfriend to take up the 50% off friends and family deal mentioned above?
Would sky allow different people to have separate contracts at the same address or would I have to keep negotiating rolling TV deals?
Thanks0 -
Ive just finally got round to call Sky to cancel my TV package. Ive just been told the cancellations dept now only open from 8 till 8 - when did that happen ?
I told the guy what a clever way to stop people cancelling - as not many people can sit on a phone all day trying to get thru / being put on hold.0 -
Hey guys.
I checked how much my parents were paying with Virgin and it turns out it's now, on average £115 a month! That's with the XL tv, 50mb internet, one standard box and one tivo and with Sky Sports.
I thought this was far too much, especially since no one actually uses the extra TV channels. Turns out our contract ended two weeks ago so my Dad rang up, **tried** to cancel and in the end hung up after being offered the same package minus the XL tv and it turns out the guy on the phone knocked off just £2 for being a 'loyal customer'.
Now, with Sky we could get standard TV, Unlimited Internet, two boxes, Sky Sports for £60 then £80 after 6 months. This was online as I'm yet to ring them up.
Any advice on what to do next? I'm thinking of ringing up Virgin myself on behalf of my Dad and ignoring any offers until they let us cancel. I'm not sure on how to play it with Sky seeing as I'm a new customer and not a customer looking to cancel. Do you think we could get them down a little or get them to thrown in an extra?0 -
I have been with sky for over 10 years, It has come to the end of my contract so I decided to cancel my whole package Sky fibre, phone, tv, Just because of the costs. I was told if I cancelled they would offer me 25 % off which they never. Then was told after 2 weeks they would ring me and offer 50 % off, which Iam still waiting for a phone call. And even told after 3 weeks 75 % off surely this cannot be true. Iam now into week 2 and still no contact from sky. Has anyone else had any luck with sky? Thankyou for any help.0

If you've been with Sky for ten years, the end of your minimum term was a long time ago. You have been on a rolling contract for nine years.
Who exactly promised you these discounts?0 -
Keep taking out a new contract every year as they phone me up with offers, The person who told me about leaving sky got his info from the internet. Just wondering if anyone else had any luck?
This is what he sent me
75% off Sky Tv for existing customers. Only works when you call the specific number 3 weeks after putting your request to cancel!

If you want 75% off your sky tv, follow these simple steps.
First: Put in a request to cancel your sky ( they may initially offer you 25% off or even 50%, don't listen just proceed with cancelling)
Second: You may get calls offering you 50% or less, again stick with cancelling.
Thirdly: After 3 weeks call the offer phone number 08442 411 914 OR 08442 410 973(NEW NUMBER- OLD NUMBER NO LONGER ACTIVE) if you do not receive the leaflet offering 75% off. I tried it, and it works.
You can also get multi-room half price. Do not mention this when you take up the 75% offer, call them back after a day or two. But when you do call, say you received it in the post, I tried this and I got it immediately.
NOTE:
Sky advisors chat total crap! They just want to convince you that the price they offer is the best. When you get the initial call of 25% off they wont budge! It's as though they have convinced themselves that is the best you are going to get, don't listen and proceed with cancelling! The 50% off department will be next. why pay so much extra, just wait 3 weeks and get 75% off!!
Best of luck! In a way, you wont be left without any sky if you do this on the third week of cancelling. It's about time existing customers got better deals than new!!!
It doesn't cost sky anything to enable the signal to your box, that's why they can do this so cheap as they have been for years.
nexus76 is in his 5th year of doing this!
New number is 08442 411 914- thanks to junglist
IF YOU CAN'T WAIT AND WANT 50% OFF:
Thanks to dazren :0 -
This looks like you've simply copied and pasted a conversation from Twitter or Facebook or some other website.
If this didn't come from Sky then you are wasting your time. Contact Sky and ask what deals are available for you to return.0
