I also had the ring for offers since our sky tv went off on Friday. I tried the number a couple of times and got an engaged tone, so in the end I rang the customer service number on Sunday morning.

They said they could see we had offers and what package were we thinking of? Got offered the family package for £24 a month down from £32 but said it was to expensive, ended up getting it for £16 a month with a year's contract. Which we're happy with.

So worth phoning, they can only say no.

Got a very weird situation where when I log on following the ceasing of all my services, the Sky site tells me to ring them for offers. I don't want to do this because it suggests I'm missing Sky but will I get a decent offer if I ring them or is it worth holding out and seeing what comes by post.

Got the same message after my TV service ceased this morning! Had been paying £54 for last six months. Had Variety package with Sport, Movie and 1 multiroom. 14 years I've been with Sky and this is the 1st time I've actually gone throught with the cancellations! In recent years I managed to get discounts here and there 35% off the most I've had but they are no longer value for money. I am after 50% off for entire package this time!

In the meantime, The World Cup is keeping me busy and I can make do with the freeview channels for time being so I'll wait for the flyers and offers to land on my mat! Hope I get a good deal by Sky before the football season starts in August! A while away yet so I am calm! :D

Ps I have unlimited Sky Broadband and anytime SkyTalk aswell. It has another 5 months left so don't have to worry about that. I got a brilliant deal on that. Free broadband and free line rental. Just paying a fiver a month for unlimited anytime calls! Hope I can negotiate a similar deal on that in November!

Well this is fun. Had a missed call from Sky yesterday afternoon while I was at work. (Why call people who work during the day? Odd.)

Anyway, I ordered broadband via EE. Quidco is offering £130 cashback and I get a £50 M&S voucher. So it works out as paying nearly nothing for my line rental and broadband. I got an e-mail from EE asking me to call yesterday. Turns out my order has been cancelled as there is a request on my line for a stop. Basically Sky screwed up. So I have to wait 14 days for the cease order to complete and then I'll be able to order broadband and a new line. And the most annoying thing? The cashback offer will have finished so I'll have to find a different provider.

    Grrrr
  • Hi. I am currently paying £44.40 for Sky TV (£21.50), BB Unlimited (£7.50) and Line Rental (£15.40).

I called Sky earlier today to cancel my package. I was offered the following: £30 for Sky TV (£20), BB Unlimited (Free), and Line Rental (£10).

What do you think? Is this a good deal? This deal was offered to me straight off the bat - I did not have to push it. Do you think, if I call back, I can get a better deal?

I was genuinely planning to cancel my Sky package today, because at £44.40, I do not think I am getting value for money. I currently pay for Netflix, and I quite like the idea of getting BT Sport through BT BB; as I like Moto GP and UFC.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    James

    Hi There,

Looking for some advice as the cheapest way to get broadband with either SkySports or BT Sports.

It appears to be plusnet for 9.99 BB + 15.95 line rental + 5.99 totalling £31.93.

For this you need a sky box though, which I don't currently have. So would have to pay for that + installations which is a hit!

Anyone else find a cheap deal, BT and SKY both appear to be coming out much higher, and BT you need a SKY box if you don't have fibre optic I believe.

    Thanks

Depends on what package you're on. If you follow through and cancel most people recieve 50% offers during or just after the 30 day period. On an absolute scale free bb and £10 LR is around average based on what was out there.

EXACTLY the same happened to me. If I was a cynic, I'd say that Sky are deliberately trying to slow down the switch process. As it happens, I am a cynic, so that's exactly how I feel.

All is not lost, though - last time I checked, EE were offering an Amazon voucher for £120 if you switch to them. Taking that into account and paying the line rental up front, unlimited BB with them comes to less than £5 a month - not to be sniffed at.

When I called EE, I was told that because the order was cancelled I couldn't apply for another 30 days. So I opted for TalkTalk - their 15% prompt payment discount sounded good to me. Experience so far? Ermmm.......
