I've had the same 50% offers as you, they are probably trying to call me to offer more, but I don't have a phone plugged in.
Currently paying £14 for broadband and phone so I'll happily stick with that unless they can come up with something special.0 -
My Sky will be switched off on Saturday as I will be going on maternity leave and need to reduce payments with a new baby and less monthly income. After explaining the reasons why I was told as a loyal customer they could definitely do a deal and was offered a new box and a discount of £1.50 a month to which I asked for the cancellation to go ahead. A few days later I then had a call where they offered a 30% discount which we also declined as we decided we are going to hold out for 50% off or if that's not possible make do with freeview for a while. Since then I've had no contact at all from sky and now the month is nearly up.
I've seen that some people are getting the 50% off once the switch off has gone ahead as an offer on their mysky. I'm wondering if anyone has had success getting a new box at the same time? I'm not talking about the latest box, it's just we have the basic old style box which has limited Anytime plus pause, record features. It's getting a bit temperamental now and wouldn't want to get tied in to a new contract with sky to end up forking out to have it replaced or repaired.0 -

I've seen some people mention that they managed to blag a new box as well as the 50% deal. Probably best to wait until you get the 50% offer and then contact them and say you would take it up but you only have an old basic box which doesn't give you all the new features so unless you can have a new box too you wouldn't be interested.0 -
Cancelled Sky today as my 50% deal ends in 31 days. They only offered 10% reduction.0

How to get a good deal:
Cancel and wait until you actually lose the channels. They'll offer minimal discounts before then but refuse and go ahead with the cancellation. Then call them up once you've lost the channels, and say you've had a flier offering a 75% discount.
If they agree, great!
If they don't, which was the case for me, they will tell you the best they can do: i would expect to be offered 50% off which is pretty good, but I was actually offered 60% off!
Was very happy to accept that. If you call as soon as your channels stop, you could only be without for literally minutes.0 -
A few days after cancelling i was offered my current subscrition of the Family pack, hd pack, multiroom and fibre broadband and anytime calls for £55 a month which i did not think was too bad.
Anyway i still went ahead with the cancellation and they offered me via email the NowTV entertainment pack for £2 for two months and i have just picked up the Argos deal of NowTV box and 5 months movies for £20 so no matter what offer they offer me now i wont be accepting it (unless it was a really ridiculously low price and a new box and dish lol)
I have a while to trial NowTV to see it i like it for not a lot of money as the entertainment channels seem to be the ones we watch mostly on Sky anyway.
We have 2 Freesat boxes that are ready to use anyway and the wife is happy with the choice of channels available after giving her a demonstration of the two boxes.0 -

Thought this may help somebody somewhere....I`v heard people moan that SKY charge around £120 for a new dish + installation. I live right on the coast where our dishes perish very rapidly. My previous 4 dishes have been about £20 each from Eebay which I`v put up myself. All you need is a little signal finder, again can be picked up for a couple of £££, and a basic knowledge of DIY.
Just thought I`d share3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0 -
We joined Sky last year using the 50% discount code from Martin's weekly email and had the full TV package including Sports, Movies and HD.
As we're coming the end of the 12 months we contacted Sky to see what they could offer us. They initially told us the best they could do is 10% off the total cost so we cancelled it.
After receiving a letter confirming the cancellation, Sky called last night and offered us the 50% deal again for another 12 months but without the fixed term contract.
It's just the game you have to play with them but they are still offering the 50% off deal as of last night.0
